Which one is probably the best of the 3 for everyday carry?

i was also considering the leek and scallion but im not sure i like the blade shapes, could maybe be talked into them if they work really well.

For the speed bump im worried about the lock and the huge amount of recurve (im sure ill like the lock, but im worried about integrity, what happens when it gets dirty)

Scallion seems slippery and just unsafe in general. don't like that it doesn't have a stud.

Blur im worried about liking the handle, and the track-type material holding up. don't like that it doesn't have a protrusion.

EDIT: the blur im referring to is the S30V version.

Of those 3 I would pick the Blur. I think it would be the best overall edc. Good Luck with your pick! Kevin :D

I've carried all three at one time or another. I liked the Blur best, mine was the S60V version. I have considered picking up another shallot though, it's a nice simple thin folder with a good long blade.

I have all three of those, heavily used. The beefiest would be the Speed Bump (I use a Spec Bump, pretty much the same knife except for blade steel and the scales), and although it's a framelock, I would say the Shallot is the most delicate. In the middle would be the Blur, but your mileage will vary depending on the type you pick especially since it's available in so many different variations. Of the 3, I carried my Blur the most, then the Spec Bump. Ergos go to the Spec Bump over the Blur, imo.

I would consider the Barrage/Salvo over the Leek or Scallion, in keeping with the relative sizes of the 3 you mentioned. It's like a larger, unassisted Leek. Of all my Kershaws, the Barrage/Salvo is what I like to carry the most.

I thought shallot had too small of a blade. The blur is a great edc, the handle materials will last. Good grip in wet conditions too, the blur has the reversible clip. Ive never had an issue with dirt in the speedbump lock. Has only one carry position and clip kind of sucks. The blade shape is more useful than the blur I think. The bump is sort of a hybrid of blades and it has a flipper which I really wish the blur had. I say get the bump while they are easy to find, there will always be Blurs around.

yeah thats what i was thinking, because they are discontinued, and technically, isn't it limited edition? im pretty sure they only made 1500 of the speed bump blade with spec bump handle.

I have the shallot and the blur and to me the blur is one of the best edc knife out there period and it's very close to the para2 I know it's not a Spyderco comparison but that's how I feel.

I just bought a blacked out leek from wall mart tuesday, its sweet, you would be surprised how much better a straight edged knife will cut, it just dives into the material. and with the black coating on the handle it is not slick at all.

The S30V Blur is my favourite EDC Kershaw. I love everything about it, and I'm glad it has a regular pocket clip and not one of those huge ones like the Junkyard Dog or Speed Bump.

However, all three knives you're looking at are very good and certainly worth having. So get a Speed or Spec Bump while you can, you'll probably end up buying all three in the long run.

Im not sure if they are considered le. They made 1423 G10 speedbumps.

I say speed bump or blur for hard use, and shallot for the wine tasting parties. Goes good with a tuxedo.

I have the Speed Bump and the S30V Blur, but never handled the Shallot and would say the Blur is probably the better EDC. If you're looking for a lighter, thinner pocket carry the Blur is the way to go. It's hard to beat that tried and true design of the Blur matched with the S30V steel it's definitely a winning combination IMO. However, I really dig the Speed Bump and it actually receives more pocket time with me than my Blur. It's heavier though, but the design and the beefiness of the build just says something to me not to mention the uniqueness of the stud lock and the Onion recurve. The Speed Bump is built a little more heavy duty than the Blur and after a short learning curve the stud lock is no big deal and can be closed easily with one hand. I haven't had any issues with the stud lock being clogged in any way through my usage. The only downside for me with the Speed Bump is what others have mentioned as well and that is the funky one position (right side tip down) pocket clip. It's ugly and shallow and is why I usually carry it in my back pocket unclipped....

Seems like a landslide, dude. The Blur is one of those knives that feels perfect in the hand, with a pretty strong, no-nonsense hard use design. If it helps, the Blur also snaps out faster with some serious authority.
