I have often admired the Spec Bump, but a $200 price tag is abit out of my budget. I droped in to the Kershaw site the other day though and saw the Speed Bump. It is identical in design, but made of different materials and costs half the price. Does anyone know if it is any good? I am not familier with the blade steel it uses, Sandvik 13C26. What do you think?

The Spec Bump isn't $200 unless you're paying retail. You can find it for $115-130 without too much trouble. The Speed Bump should be around $75.

On the Speed Bump, the handles look to be some sort of plastic, which won't be as durable or quite as grippy as the G10 on the Spec. The Sandvik 13C26 steel is pretty good, somewhere around AUS-8 or 440C in comparison. It won't hold an edge like S30V will, but it'll sharpen easier.

Basically, look at the Spec Bump as a high performance knife, and the Speed Bump as more of a casual user needing more casual maintainance.
