Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and I thought I would start off with a question instead of giving advice. :D

For storing the Kershaws with spring assist/Speed Safe when not in use, do you leave the blade open to ease the tension on the spring bar or leave it closed? I thought of this in relation to my gun magazines, the ones not in use I leave empty so the spring doesn't stay compressed.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

BTW-I have been registered here less than a month and kershawguy is already gettin in my wallet.:p

It doesn't really matter as they may sit on the shelf NIB for years before opened. All of the knife makers know this and make a product that will work as advertised, well usually, no matter how you store it.

welcome to the forums! the only way ive heard to wear one out is from opening and closing many many many times. so it really doesnt matter if its stored open or closed.

Welcome to the forum!

The subject has been discussed numerous times and the general consensus is that it won't hurt them to store them closed.

Having said that though, in the same discussions it will generally get mentioned that Ken Onion stores his customs with the blades opened.
