Haven't read the forums, let alone posted in ages.

In any event, is it possible to get a replacment torsion bar a Kershaw black out? Mine has been sitting for a year and a half almost unused, and is now to weak to open the knife.

I haven't needed it myself, but from what I hear the Kershaw service is really good so I doubt that you'll have any problem having it repaired. Just give them a call.

Just contact Kershaw and ask for a replacement bar, maybe they'll send you one free of charge, who knows?

Oh, ZENGHOST was first.

I bought an early Mini-Task and the action was not very strong, even when new. A coworker bought a later one, which opened very fast. He told me that they changed to a stiffer spring, and that I should ask Kershaw about it. To make a long story short, Kershaw replaced the spring at no charge, and even called me to see if I needed any other work done while they had the knife. The technician suggested changing to the longer clip screws, because they found that the short ones could pull out. Basically, they updated my knife quickly and professionally at no charge (besides shipping to Kershaw) to me. I'm really pleased at the treatment I got, and the quality of the work that Kershaw provided.

I suspect that the gunk on the pivot has harden/dried. Clean the pivot using hot water and soap. Then, on your on risk:-

Warning. I will not be held responsible for lost fingers!!!

First, open the blade until just before the liner locks. Hold the back of the blade with one hand and the handle with another. Slightly move the blade sideways, taking care not to tork the blade close on your hand. This will pack the gunk and give a bit of sideways blade play. Just be very careful.

If this doesnt work, do you have the screwdriver necessary to open the knife? They are T6 if I am not mistaken. It would cost you about $5 for the screwdriver alone or better get the set. But benchmades and a lot of other knives use the same type.

If you are not mechanically minded, then just send it in.

yes, they send it to you FOC
you can replace the torsion bar easily yourself, but try to take a photograph before you take out the old one, or you might not be able to remember how it goes in
yes, you CAN work it out from first principles, but it's faster if you remember exactly how it was placed

The knife may just need to be used for a while. Ive had that problem before, but if that does not work then call kershaw they will send you the torsion bar. It is fairly easy to replace, if your not comfortable doing that then send the knife to them.
