I just managed to get a nice trade deal and got my hands on a NIB Kershaw Nakamura. It sure looks to be a gorgeous gent's knife and I cant wait to get it. Does anybody have experience or knowledge of this knife? It seems that it's a discontinued knife but does anybody know of the years it was produced and how many were made?

so, which one do you have?.... I have had a few quince wood splinters and am quite taken with it. Kind of like a gents knife with attitude. I'd give my left (um) for a high end steel splinter, but Aus 8 is pretty sweet. Congrats on the score

haha I didn't realize that there was more than 1 version.

It's #11 in this pic so maybe you can figure out which one it is.

Actually after looking at the pic again, I realized that the handle isn't all wood meaning that its not the Splinter. Looks to be more like the Nakamura which has even better clad VG10 stainless steel core with 420 J2 outer layers and some engraving on the handle. SWEET!

they haven't made any Nakamuras for quite awhile... but is it discontinued? Didn't even see the picture. Just reacted to the name Splinter. Yep, that's the Nakamura. Has that nifty layered bolster. Always wanted one. I think it's a clad VG10 blade too

I was posting that the Splinter was discontinued but i guess the Nakamura is still being produced. The clad VG-10 blade seems really nice along with the layered handle to give the decoration. Anybody have one of these beauties?

I have looked at this knife many times and thought about getting one, but never have. Let us know what you think about it and share some photos if you can. I wish the knife came with a holster of some type to compliment it.

Will do. I hope that it will get shipped tomorrow or monday and I'll try to post some pics and a short review. I'm not a knife knut and am really just getting into collecting but I'll do my best and I consider myself a lucky guy to already have a beauty like this. Good thing yesterday was my birthday so it'll give me an excuse for this.
