Kershaw 1460 Splinter with Quince wood scales.
Anyone got one of these? If so would you reccomend it? Looks like a pretty nice knife

It's crazy lightweight, and it's discontinued. It flicks open really fast, and it's made in Japan. Other than that, I dunno.

Sounds good so far. Any idea why they would discontinue a knife like this? Can it still be found relatively easy?

I have one. Its a nice enough knife...however, I would like it more if were increased in size, proportionately, about 1/2" longer.

Yes, its just fine, as long as you need it for really hard use. It's great for fine work, like getting out splinters...

Do a google site:bladeforums.com search for the Kershaw RAM and OD-1 and firebert (firebert, right? I think so.) He makes nice wood scales for both knives and they're something to see.

it looks a bit like the baby of a more modern looking Kershaw and a Mcusta !

I want just cause' the wood scales. Good enough for EDC you think?

It was/is a fine knife. The problem, from what I can tell, is that Kershaw found them selves in a situation where their tactical line exploded in popularity and the Sapphire, Splinter and Nakimura (gents type knives) sales suffered. They ended up getting discontinued. The steels were a very well done AUS8 and all 3 models were very smooth, quick and light. If it floats your boat, you can find one for cheap.... I say, buy it.
