I was wondering if anyone could post a couple of pics of the Kershaw Storm for me. In particular what I'd like to see are pictures of the smaller Storm that shows the thickness of the scales and the lock engaging. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

My buddy in work carries the storm. He beats the hell out of it. I always put the edge back on it for him. Sharpens up real easy. I remember a thread started about the best knife under 50 bucks. The storm was one of the best.

I have a storm and freggin' love the thing. Great little knife for the price.

That's a great pic. It really makes the Storm look great. Not to mention that I also carry a Leatherman Wave so pairing those two really worked for me.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a million.

Max, it's a good knife. You'll like it and besides, if you don't, you wont be out much $$! (PB washers in this knife!)

The Storm and Storm II are two of my favorite beater knives. I carry the II quite often. I find them to be very good folders for the money and quite durable. I got one not too long ago from Thomas to test and I beat the crap out of it batoning it into logs, splitting them by twisting it and doing some pretty extreme cardboard and rope cutting with it. Then I sent it off to Thom Brogan to do some more with it after I resharpened it and used it a bit more first. He reprofiled it down in an experiment to prove a point and it convinced me that the blade steel is capable of wearing many hats in the knife industry.

I am sure we have only seen the tip of the iceberg with what Kershaw can do with this 13C26 steel over the long haul. By the way. That Storm II Thomas sent me is still fine, still locks up just great, took everything I threw at it and dared me to beat it some more. No doubt in my mind that the stainless lock and frame are far more durable than an equal thickness titanium one. No doubt at all. For $30 and some change at Wal-Mart you can't argue with that kind of durability and performance. Heck you can't argue with that at any price.

I just bought a Storm II to try out a frame lock knife and it is friggen awesome! I think Kershaw has the best quality control out there for
lower cost knives(I also have a Blur). I just wonder how they make them in the U.S. so cheap with the consistent quality. Is it because they use CNC
machinery? The only thing I have to say is it's a heavy knife! I felt it flopping
around in my Khakis tonight. I'm going to change the clip to point up and I'll
be good to go.

Ok, just one more question about this knife. Some pictures I've seen like the one above show a saber grind and other show a full flat grind on the Storm. I'm assuming that the made it one way then changed it. So, which is the current grind that comes on this knife?

You are right, we have made the Storm with two different grinds. I will check in the morning and have an answer for you as to which one we are currently using.

Thanks for the pat on the back!! A big reason for the consistant quality of our knives does revolve around using the best high tech equipment available, and a highly trained happy staff running it!! :D

I wouldn't expect any less than that from Kershaw. I'm a big fan of their work. And I need something to replace my Monochrome cuz I'm a little disenchanted with Benchmade right now.

My girlfriend's Strorm is fully flat ground. It is new model from 2006.

After reading all of this I just went to Wally World and picked up a Storm II for $29.99 and it is a great knife for sure.....

I've had a Strom II for a while now and it's been a great knife. The best $30 kinfe I've found.

Mine is Saber ground. Are the new ones flat ground?

The only improvement I would suggest is for the clip to be mounted further toward the end of the handle for tip up carry so less of the knife sticks out of the pocket.

STR actually made me a custom clip for it that is awesome.

My only other comment is that I find the blade configuration slightly hard to sharpen. I'm a basic knife sharpener and only use a Sharpmaker. Any tips on sharpening the Storm blade?

I had a storm 2 and really liked it and for the price it's hard to beat. my only complaint with it is that when you stick your hand in your pocket the scales grind away at the back of your hand. aside from that it's a dandy.

I'm finding it really hard to put the edge back on my Storm II. I'm using a ceramic sharpner (bottom of a bowl). I've looked under the light and I can't see any rolling but I can't get that first -razor- sharpness.

P.S. I've been using the Storm II and I think it is the most amazing knife ever. I just can't flaw the quality at all! If someone said it cost $200 I would believe them.
