The question was asked if a Tyrade could be made to ride right hand tip up carry and to ride low to boot. Here is your answer. Had to put the mount holes off to the side to do it but I blended it into the handle by giving the mount points that same 'dog bone' lookin shape of the CF cut out and folded it over such at way as to manipulate it right around the carbon fiber outlay on the frame.

Its much better now! No offense to Kershaw but tip down does nothing at all for me on these AO flipper knives. Now its sittin' just right so the index can whip that blade out nice and sweet like!

Let me know what you think cause thisin was tough! :p

I think it looks great!!! Thanks for sharing STR, I too love tip-up carry with flippers like the tyrade, or axis locks, or....oh I could go on all day. Basically I like tip-up and the way you mounted that clip looks good and comfy. If I get my Christmas wish and find a Tyrade in my stocking I'll have to send it over to you for a makeover;)

Cheers,
Jon

Steve that is a definite improvement over the factory. It looks very sleek and compact.

that's sweet Steve. I was thinking the same thing about tip-down on an AO.

ok this is a really stupid question but i don't know much about folders.....i have a tyrade right now in my possesion......i think the clip stinks personally....what exactly is a low riding clip do.....is it just closer to the top of the folder so it sits lower down in your pocket....str-am i even close.....i love the knife but the clip is just too big and it just doesn't quite look right to me......thanks for any info str......ryan

Its also referred to as a 'fold over' style clip by many. These simply fold over as it says in the name. If you look at the side profile of any I've made you can see that it allows the knife to ride deeper so that very little if any sticks out of the top of the pocket when carrying the knife. In conjunction with some blue jean color, or khaki color to match slacks I get a lot of guys that like that since it can provide them with some 'urban camo' or blending to not draw so much attention to their folder when its in their pocket.

I still am amazed at how many of these I make in any given year. I thought it would come and go but its been about as steady as anything I do.

Thanks for asking.

Hey STR, at the risk of Heresy (apologies to Tim Galyean), have you moddied any JunkyardDog2's with lowriding clips?

I did my own yes. Its in an old thread somewhere, probably either in general or on the Kershaw forum if it was moved there when they started their forum in May the same day I opened mine. I would imagine its on the last pages by now because it was actually from a post about the JYDII by Vitalli before May. I wiped my computer of all pics preparing for next year like I always due toward the end of the year. I may have it in my saved attachments though and if so I'll give a link to it.

Here ya go. I found the one I did on my JYDII and the one I did for my JYD only its not a low rider. Both are tip up though which I prefer. By the way I later took that clip off the JYDII mainly because I got rid of the knife but also because I just don't much care for that particular clip compared to the ones I make with the wings on it which have better pocket tension.
