That's a tough choice, and it mostly comes down to personal preferences. I would probably go with the ZT0350 though 'cause I've been eye ballin' it before it even came out and I almost snagged one a couple of times.
The Tyrade should be bigger, tougher (Composite blades do very well in my experience), and way less expensive. Those things are probably the steal of the year.
I'm not concerned about the price difference but mostly the tip design. The Tyrade seems like it would have a bit better penetration ability, that's the only thing holding me back from purchasing the 0350.
do you think they would be a noticeable difference in penetration b/n the two
I have both of those knives and it's a really tough decision. I've been going back to the ti-Tyrade again and again over the last few days, but I've only had it for a week or so. It's very nice.
I own 2 350s (although I just sold one of them). They're great knives and it's currently the only model I own 2 of. They're smaller and a bit lighter than the Tyrade (so they're easier for EDC). But you're probably committing to a larger knife anyway if you're deciding b/w these 2.
There's no doubt that the Tyrade is pointier if that is your primary issue b/w the 2. The broadness toward the tip on the 350 makes it difficult to get into tight spaces (e.g. to cut a wristband off my son's wrist). The Tyrade is also pretty stout toward the tip - just not so much as the 350.
I have both of these knives and I like them both equally but I would get the Tyrade while they are still available as they are supposed to be a limited edition where the ZT 350 is available anytime.
The G-10 Tyrades are a fantastic deal and has been said are limited production. The 0350 is a great knife, too. Slightly smaller, but equally stout. Both are liner locks and are AOs with flippers. Haven't used either to stab anything, so I don't know about "penetration" performance. Here is a comparison of an orange Tyrade and a 0350KW:
The liner locks on the Tyrade and 0350 are - 0.075"
I've got both the ZT0350 and the G10 Tyrade.
I've shown the 0350 to people and they say it is a real nice knife
(and it is) and hand it back to me.
But when I show someone the G10 Tyrade, once they hold it their eyes light up.
One guy said you better take it back or I will keep it. It's that kind of knife.
Between the balance and the length of the blade and the grip it just feels like you are holding a great knife.
So buy the G10 first my bet is you'll love it.
