Kershaw Tyrade supersharpness

Hi, Vassili, thanks for the videos. I've got some new TP around I think I'll start using for knife tests ... too abrasive for what it's designed to do :) so might be a good test of edge retention.

I recently picked up a couple of composite blade Leeks, and was very impressed with the edge I was able to achieve on the CPM-D2. Under magnification it looks great ... in fact I can't recall another steel that looked so clean even directly off a medium-coarse grit hone, suggesting to me there's far less tendency towards carbide tear out and/or fracturing than steels like S30V, regular D2, VG-10, etc. The final edge after microbeveling on fine ceramic and stropping on clay coated paper is just superb; very nice steel to work with.

BTW, I was wondering what the primary edge angle is on your "straight" Tyrade (which looks very nice, BTW!) Looks like it must be around 12 deg./side or less.

Hope you'll let us know what you think of this steel after you get a chance to do some harder work. I haven't had the opportunity with mine yet, but kind of excited to see how it performs.
