Should I buy a Kershaw Vapor II or Whirlwind? OK, I like them both (in plain edge), but which would be just better knife for typical daily use (not too hard)? Price is not an issue here, just which one is a better piece of knife in your opinion? And If you could add "why" as well...

To my knowledge, Vapor series are made in Japan to keep the price point down, Whirlwind is made in USA. Not that this makes Vapor inferior but just as an FYI. I have a Whirlwind and the blade really flies out (faster than my Boa; almost as fast as my Chive). Haven't played with a Vapor yet.

I have the Vapor II and cannot recommend it highly enough. I also have a Whirlwind, and as automator said, the blade really flies out.
I'll take the Vapor II over the Whirlwind if I had to choose. Here's why:

3.5" blade thinly ground. Great cutter so far.
(The Whirlwind also has a thin blade, but, I'm still liking this feature on the Vapor II)

Full height flat grind(makes for a great cutting knife IMO)

INTEGRAL FRAME LOCK:eek: This is huge for a knife that can be found for $25.00 to $30.00.

It's a VERY good looking all metal folder

It's very comfortable in the hand even though it is quite thin

Open back construction for easy cleaning

It carries low in the pocket, but is easily retrieved when needed.

Don't know if this is for real, but 1SKS says it is a limited edition item of only 1000 pieces.

I'm lovin this knife so far. Does it show?
