For those who own a vapor, would the thumbstub be easy to remove? I've toyed with the idea of getting one for probably close to a year now, and would like to know this before I finally go plunk down all that money. ;)

My friend owns one and likes it. I recently touched the edge up for him. I thought it would be interesting to do a comparison with the knife, stock edge VS a more acute edge. I'll use it out of box or a bit then take the edge down and compare it to the previous work and then to my friends blade.

The stud is easy to remove, just unscrew the phillips and off it comes. My only beef with it is that they're really pointy, but about 60 seconds with a coarse bench stone and then they're ugly and nice on the thumb.

But if you just wanted to remove it, it's a 5 second job.

Good to know it screws out, that will make it effortless. Thanks for the information.

I was thinking about trying to file out the hole some to enlarge it like a Spyderco, but I might not bother. My friends knife is almost too difficult for me to open one handed for some reason, so I'll probably just open mine two handed. I'd still like to take the stud off though.

Hey Vivi, just curious about how much you are talking about spending for it?(In your post it sounds like allot, but that means different things for different people)
You can get them at Walmart for about 18$.
Just don't want you to go and pay more than that if you don't havta ;)

Yeah, I plan on picking it up from there...money is just kind of difficult to come by when you can't seem to find a job. I'm helping someone move in a week though so I should have some money from that.

I picked another one up the other day at Wal-Mart (I have two now), and the thumb studs were different than my other Vapor has, they were like the ones seen on the Storm and Blur knives and are worse than the original in my opinion.
