I consider both the Vapor and the Vapor II to be some of the very best values out there.

Please see this thread:

A $25 Sebenza? or is this just Vapor too?

Early Kershaw Vapors were made in Japan - the current ones are made in China with Japanese steels (AUS-6A).

So what's the difference between the Japanese and the Chinese made Vapors?

Practically nothing.

But if like me you're somewhat A rententive please take a look at this post over at the Knife Reviews & Testing section -

Vapor Minutiae

but please remember this is a minutiae :D

The Japanese ones were made of AUS-8A.

I genuinely like my Vapor and Vapor II. In fact, I'd love to find a 'premium' model with a Ti frame and ATS-34 blade (made to the same standard of quality-mine are both quite nicely fitted and finished) for $50 or so. Slim, easy to carry and very comfortable to use.

Out of production CRKT S-2's - ATS-34 titanium framelocks - usually Ebay for under $60. I like mine. The grind is kind of "eh", though. They did MSRP in the $120-$150 range for the three sizes it came in, though. CRKT also did a titanium framelock variant of the Jim Hammond Mirage, with an oddball but supposedly premium steel - "ACUTO440, a special 440 stainless at 59-61 Rc". MSRP was $100.

I don't think you're going to get a titanium and ATS-34 framelock of decent quality for a retail of under a C note or so. So say an internet street price in the $65+ range.

A nice steel framelock with a premium blade probably would be in that range though. Doesn't Camillus have a Cuda framelock with 154CM that MSRPs around $80?

UnknownVT, I might be wrong but remember seeing it somewhere on my Vapor. I will check this tonight and post tomorrow.

I was wrong

I checked my Vapor and it has no reference for the steel type at all.
Sorry for the misleading statement.
