A few nights ago I decided to sharpen a Kershaw volt I had laying around which was, needless to say, as dull as a brick. So I set up the apex and started grinding. About 15 minutes later, the whole upper portion (the CPM-d2 part) was COVERED in little freckles of rust. I used some flitz to get it out and it did an alright job, but there were still some spots and the blade was all shiny now from the polish.
I emailed Kershaw (I was talking to Cheryl) and she told me to send 'er and she'll talk to management to see what to do considering it is a limited run.
So, assuming they cannot swap a blade, what can they do? have they ever "re-blasted" a blade?
If not, I'm considering getting a stonewash finish on it, but don't know where to get it done and I'm not sure if that will make the different steels appear the same meaning they will both be the same color.
Help is appreciated.
