EDC folder. I am primarily looking at Kershaw Corral Creek vs Benchmade Mini Ambush. What do you think about the two models? What do you think about Kershaw vs Benchmade folders in general?

I have Kershaw and Benchmade folders. Both manufacturers have terrific products. Leek and Ritter Grip for examples.

However, this is what I carry: http://catalog.bladeart.com/imgs/ba04687.jpg

-Buck Mayo Cutback: 440C blade steel (will hold an edge), frame lock, pocket clip, extremely sharp out of box, elegant looking and feels robust.

Designed by the genius Tom Mayo and built by the legend Buck.

$30 at Walmart, $25 + shipping online.

I liked it so much I've ordered the TNT (same size as the Cutback, with Titanium handle and CPMS30V blade and thumb hole instead of thumb stud (won't catch on my pocket rim), http://store.irawoodinc.com/irawoodinc/bubutnt172.html for Christmas and my birthday and .......

All the best,

oregon

Kershaw makes some nice stuff...
Benchmade is top-notch.

Take that as you will.
Peace.

Kershaw has some nice products, really nice stuff like the Nakamura, and the Ken Onion designed Splinter, the cocobolo version I have is really pretty and a great knife, AUS8 steel. Most of Kershaws knives have 420 and 440a steels, which is fine for the casual user, but for hardcore bladers, you would need better. Kens higher end designs are pretty good.

Benchmade, while much more expensive, has a lot of custom collaborations, and uses higher end steels. I have an Apparition with 154cm steel, which is more than I need, but I like it. I also have an Outbounder, River Rescue and 551 Griptilian, all in 440C, not the best steel, but all around one of the best and most common steels, and highly lauded. I also have an old Nimravus Cub, with ATS34 steel. Even Benchmades red class are a good series of knives.

My vote is for Benchmade.

Hi there,
Welcome to the knife drawer.:p

I really, really like Benchmade, but of all the love for them, i have the least love for the Mini-Ambush, it uses a Rolling lock, not an Axis lock, similiar but not the same action or lock up.

I myself would suggest maybe a Mini-griptillian or a 707, a 940 or 960 perhaps, but i wouldn't suggest the ambush imo.

Please check out the others before purchaseing a Ambush, not saying its total crap, just many retire thiers when a axis shows up in thier collection.

Happy multiplying.
