Hello everyone! I have a kershaw scallion that I purchased in 06, today the liner lock failed and closed on my pinky, also the speed assist spring is basically dead. Do you guys think kershaw will still replace it even though its 7 years old? Thanks

Moved to General Knife Discussion. Tech Support is for Bladeforums website questions.

I would suggest you contact Kershaw customer service with this question. All we can give you are opinions.

I believe they will. They carry a lifetime warranty as far as I know. I have broken the tip off and sent it to them and they fixed/replaced it.

I can tell you that KAI warranty is amazing. That is one of the reasons they are my favorite company. They stand behind everything they sell and have great customer service. Give the warranty number a call

They have amazing service.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I've had the same thing happen with. Different brand...and my trigger finger reattached. Sucked.

Hi Bladesnmore -

They likely would take care of you, but I would ask have you used the knife for the last seven years with no problems? Do you think you got your service life out of it?

If it were mine, and I had been using it for seven years, I would probably try another product since I had received such good value from my first purchase.

You can get a new scallion for around $35 if you wanted to just replace your knife. That is a lot of knife for five bucks a year.

Just my opinion, and yes, I bet Kershaw will take care of you if you choose to send it in for warranty service.

Even when they replaced a Leek blade for me after it broke the tip in the washing machine, my cost was nominal. Great service

The number one question that comes to mind with these threads is has the OP even called the company in question? If it where me, the first call I'd make is to Kershaw. Certainly before creating a thread on Bladeforums. Yes, they will take care of you. Their customer service is legendary.

Quoted for truth!

^^ This. Pick yourself up a new one to use while that one is in for repair. KAI will definitely take care of it.

I had to join this fourm just so I could reply to this thread . about 8 months ago a friend gave me a beat up Kershaw clash [he started my addiction] I used the knife every day until the speed safe bar broke this knife was beet it even fell out of my pocket while I was riding my bike at 75 mph . Needless to say I sent it in and in less than 2 weeks later they had sent me a brand new clash !!! I never expected a new one . After my great experience with the I have now purchased 12 more kershaws and will be getting more as I can

This is awesome. My wife bought me a Scallion years ago. I've never used it because the tip was bent when I got it. She didn't know to look it over before she left the store.

Maybe I'll give them a call one of these days. :)

Btw, I never would have even considered this option if this thread didn't exist. May seem silly to some of you, but I'm glad the OP made it. I wasn't aware of Kershaws good CS.

Even though I think Kershaw will take care of you, I wouldn't go as far as others have by guaranteeing it.

The knife is 7 years old, it may just be worn out. If the failure is determined to be from normal wear and tear, I wouldn't expect any company to cover that.

kershaws customer service is second to none even if they determine that a bent blade or broken one is your fault they will replace it for 10 bucks ! it doesn't matter to them how old a knife is its a lifetime warranty they are more concerned with your satisfaction than how much it will cost them to fix or replace the knife . A knife is basically a tool there are many tool company's that warranty there tools for life ! This kind of customer satisfaction is why I will buy there knifes and tell everybody interested to buy one ! Go to there web site read the warranty its companies like this that deserve my business !

I bent my scallion, I think it was , right after I bought it, I flicked her open ,it slipped out of my hand and went right into a wood floor, and bent. I have bent her back and sharpened it up since then, great knife became my go to knife at work.

I also have a 7 yr old Scallion and the torsion bar broke along with the safety switch. I sent Kershaw one email and received a new torsion bar and safety switches in two days later.
