I'm looking to get another knife, possibly two, for presents. Something in the "gentleman's knife" category, but big enough for most uses. I like the look of the Kershaw Wild Turkey. How good is the AUS6 and what other steel is it close to?

It's meant to be a nice, simple, slim, lightweight folding knife. You will probably have to touch up AUS-6 more often than most other steels.

I've been looking at this knife as well, but the damascus version. The price doesn't seem crazy and Kershaw makes a good knifebu t this would be my first knife in damascus steel......is it worth it? I like the looks of the knife and either would be great, but I've always wanted a damascus blade....like the looks.

The damascus is genuine--from Alabama damascus with something like 416 layers. It's great stuff and looks really classy in person.

I've had a Kershaw Wild Turkey for many years. It is a really nice design and I've had good luck with it.

The Aus 6 does just fine. Just touch it up more often, but cuts and holds an edge good enough.

I have the smaller Squaw Creek knife in this line of Kershaws. While I don't have any groundshaking news regarding the blade steel (it has performed fine for me), the F&F of the knife is VERY good, considering the price point. I've been very happy with the knife.

If you're looking at giving a gift you could do a lot worse than give them Austin Nichols' Wild Turkey!
