Kershaw Zing - Disassembly Problem

Hi,

I want to disassemble my Zing, but I can't, for the following reason:
The black spacer between the liners is fastened with 3 screws. Each screw goes from the top handle scale all the way through the spacer into a little barrel (jacket, socket, don't know the correct technical term, sry; but you know what I mean) and comes out the bottom handle scale. Now the barrels are not fixed and the screws (well, 2 of them) are locktited so hard that the screws won't come out the barrel. Screw and barrel just spin together.

Seriously, I have no idea how to get those screws out of there. I've tried heating them up with a soldering iron, didn't work. I've tried pressing the protruding part of the barrel on a piece of rubber and then turning the screw, no success.

I honestly wonder why Kershaw needs to apply so much Loctite

Can you guys help me out?

The rubber band trick has worked for me but you need a thick pc of rubber and need to apply a lot of pressure(if that is not working try having someone help so that you can apply more pressure). For the pivot screw the best way I have found is to open the blade and set the blade on a hard surface and apply pressure on the handle(this pressure keeps the pivot from spinning while the screw is removed. good luck.

........

Thx for your advice, mmkjohnson1. I did follow it; I used a ~4mm thick piece of rubber, taped in on top of the barrel and pressed on it with almost my whole bodyweight while turning the screw - NOTHING.

I love Kershaw knives, but I'm starting to get a liiiittle bit aggravated. Where's the point in glueing everything together like that?

Btw I knew the trick for the pivot screw and that one has always worked.

For the pivot, open the knife and apply downward pressure on the handle while resting the blade on the edge of the desk. Continue applying pressure while you loosen the screw. Works every time for me.
