Hi all!

I have a problem. I love My Kershaw Zing but I am unable to adjust its Pivot torx. Turning the torx just makes the counter place rotate. The polyamid handles have given slightly in around the hexademical counter place making it turn around.

It sucks...

1. get some paper towels
2. Fold 'em up and place them on counter
3. Take knife and lay it edge first on counter, on paper towels. A cardboard backing will protect the edge further (behind paper towels)
4. While applying pressure to the edge of the knife (Pushing down), then attempt to extract the screw--it will be tough.

5. If this fails, the heat-iron trick won't help either... it might melt the handles... just send it in.

Good luck!

Here's how to loosen the pivot screw when the pivot sleeve turns. You'll need: a table or kitchen counter, a dish rag, Torx tool, and some patience.

Fold the towel several times and lay it on the edge of the table or counter. The towel is there to protect the surface and the blade.

Open the knife, and place it edge down on the towel (just like you were going to cut thru it). With the knife handle in one hand and the Torx in the other, press down on the towel. With the pressure being applied, turn the Torx screw.

Doing this will apply enough pressure to the pivot to put it in a slight bind, allowing you to easily remove the screw.

Let me know if this doesn't work!

I've found that by applying a little bit of lateral (side) pressure to the blade, it will bind the pivot enough to free the screw.
