Been lurking for a while and this is my first post.

I just purchased a Kershaw Zero Tolerance 300 on ebay the other day. I am a big believer of the S30V for pocket knife blade steel, and wanted to upgrade to a larger knife from my Boa. There have been many reviews around on this pocket knife, but I believe this is the first with the custom serrations. I live right down the road from Tom Veff (he has his serrations on CRKT knives), and had him cut a few into my new ZT. I personally think the blade looks awesome with the new shape, and it cuts and slices as it should, awesome.

The overall fit and finish of the knife is second to none. I love the larger bolt that connects the blade to the handle, as well as the large brass/bronze spacers (I hate the small ones/plastic ones). The knife feels perfect in my hand, but I can see it being a bit large for smaller handed gents.

I only have two small issues with the knife. One is the clip. I generally like the Ken Onion clips, they are long and slip onto my pocket smoothly. This one is shorter and a bit stiff, so it's a little more difficult to pocket and remove. A little bit of tweaking has reduced this issue. The other is I can't figure why Kershaw would make one side Ti and the other G10. Call me OCD, but I like symmetry on my knives. Maybe I should have bought the ZT350 (and maybe I'll own that one too). This isn't a deal breaker, just a head scratcher.

This is definitely a "go" knife, and means business, but also looks nice too. So far, I am a happy camper. For anyone interested in the serration, check out Toms website http://www.veffsharpening.com/ (I have no vested interests with him, just like my knife)

the reason for Ti on one side and G10 on the other is its a strider thing. The 0300 series was co designed by strider and onion. Most of the styling cues like shape and ergos being onion while most structural cues like the Ti/G10 combo, Lock bar stabilizer, color scheme on the 301 and 302s being a strider thing. Atleast there is a Ti liner on the other side. I actually like the combo myself. Putting G10 on the other side would eliminate the frame lock and putting Ti on the other side you loose some grip. But each to his own. Nice serrations by the way. They look wicked on that knife.

The G-10 side also houses the torsion bar. I'm assuming they didn't want to do the cutout for them in that many Ti scales anyway. ;) :D

As for your blade, that look pretty cool.
I've always liked Tom's serrations and think they work very well.

Thanks for sharing.

Very cool:thumbup: I usually go with plain edges, but the Veff serrations look really great on that ZT. Enjoy it.

I like plain edge too but I had the chance to use some veff serrations about a month ago and was very impressed. How much do you think he would charge to do the whole blade?

I am the exact same way and why I have never taken to the Striders, except for the AR, and all the others that have followed. Give me two Titanium slabs and I will be happy!:)

He charges $10 per serration, unless it's S30V ($15/serration). You really have to love your knife to have him add them. This is the first knife I've had him do. I figure $60 for serrations on a $300 knife (although ebay helped me pay less....) is a reasonable investment.
