Kershaw/ZT Warranty Question

Hi! :D

This is my first post here on Blade Forums. Seems like a very knowledgeable community, thus I decided it would be a good place to resolve my question....

I recently purchased a custom laser-engraved ZT 0560:

Two problems. First, the guy accidentally sent me a plain knife! So, before I send it back I was wondering if perhaps this is a mixed blessing? Will Kershaw/ZT void my warranty if the knife is engraved? I really want the blade customized, but not at the expense of potentially having to replace it out-of-pocket myself someday!

That seems like a question to sent to ZT directly. They are quick to answer emails, within 24 hours usually.

Welcome to BladeForum! It shouldn't void the warranty since it isnt a structural alteration, but I'd email ZT and ask just to play it safe.

Good job not posting a live evilbay link, following the form rules like a champ :D

Well, I called the 800 # on their website and a woman named Theresa in the Warranty Department told me it should be fine, but her English was a bit disconcerting. I asked her to clarify it with a supervisor/manager because she honestly just did not sound very informed.

Apparently he made the same claim. Wish I had my tape-recorder handy lol! Anyhoo, I decided to exchange for the custom engraved.

I'll vouch for them.... Laser designs on the blade does not void the warranty. The only (unlikely) problem you might come accross is if you need the blade replaced for any reason. We'd be able to replace it with a plain blade, but not with your customization lasered on it.

Maybe it was Oregonian English. I bet you don't pronounce Tualatin correctly unless you've heard someone from around here say it. Unless you live in Washington or Oregon, you probably don't even pronounce "Oregon" correctly. Everything in this part of the country is pronounced like you're drunk with a mouth full of marshmallows... don't get me started on how you are supposed to pronounce Puyallup.

Try emailing them, not hard to understand Teresa at all that way :D

Hey OP, Id get a plain blade version instead of the engraved one anyways. Those engraved ones are... um... the black sheep of the family.

When I started reading your post I though, "they should try to say Puyallup." Ive had many good laughs at customer service reps when they try to say that city, some of the things Ive heard. And most other places around here mess any non-locals up pretty bad. Pretty funny!

This is sig worthy.
