Kershaw/ZT Warranty

Wish me luck guys. Ended up sending two of my ZT blades into Kershaw... One ZT 0300 for rattling and blade play and my ZT 0350 for sharpening.

Anyone had any experiences with the ZT warranty? They're telling me I should have my blades back in 5-7 days after receiving them.

Sucks to have any issue with a knife, but the warranty department is awesome and will definitely take care of you. Turnaround is fairly quick depending on the issue. Sounds like it could be the torsion bar that was rattling on the 300. A little grease will take care of that easily if that is the issue. I have only had to send one in and it was taken care of and back to me in no time at all. Most of the time I just bug them for parts. Good luck.

Does it rattle when the blade is closed or open? Most likely closed in which case as dave alluded to the grease in the torsion bar cavity dried up.

It rattles while open but not when closed. Also, there's a bit of side to side blade play in the knife... I can feel the blade moving and rocking when I feel it. I know these ZTs are supposed to lock up like tanks, so I sent it in.

The rattling sound while open most likely the torsion bar. A little bit of viscous grease applied to the torsion bar in its small milled-out cavity will keep it from moving around. As for the blade play, did you try adjusting the pivot screw (or nut, in the case of the 0300)? If the threadlocker on the screw gets broken (or if none was applied), the screw can very slowly loosen as you use the knife. Sometimes tightening it (could just need a very slight adjustment) will get rid of the side to side play.

As for KAI's warranty service, it's great. I sent in my 0350 some time ago for a lock rock issue, and it was back in my hands in about 2 weeks (including shipping both ways). They fixed the lock rock and re-sharpened the knife, good as new.

Although you might have probably fixed the issues yourself. It is very smart the way you handled it.

And YES. They are super fast and can fix anything and everything better than you would think. It will be A OK.

I've been curious about this myself. I'm about to send my 0350 for sharpening and my buddy's Blur for repair/replacement. I'm sure his will be there for a while, but I'd hope they don't keep my 0350 long. It's been my daily carry for a year now. It'd be wrong to carry anything else, lol.

Turn-around time is fairly quick. After using my 0350 for some angry gardening, I sent it in and had it back within two weeks or so.

I'm sure you will be satisfied with the customer service, I have had nothing but great experiences! I typically have them send me the parts. I love how they do this; they sent me a torsion bar the other month with out hesitation. Quick email response and super quick shipping on their end, no cost to me!

The rattling when open is totally normal. Also the side to side play can be adjusted out with the pivot.

I sent my ZT300st in for repair. Two issues, the rattle and a broken tip. The knife came back w/ the tip and rattle fixed but w/ in a few months the rattle resumed. I was very disappointed. I get fed up and did not want to spend more money on shipping so I fixed it myself:

Its actually quite easy, so if the 300 returns and the rattling resumes after some time, put the grease in yourself and save on shipping.

Having dealt with many companies warranty departments. I can say that Kershaw/Kai without a doubt is one of the best.
