Just bought a Kershaw Chive today...I want to thank everyone at BladeForum for making it a lot easier for me to decide on buying a knife. The Chive got some good reviews on here and they were right.
It is just what I wnated , an inexpensive, small , sturdy knife.
The fact that it has a speed safe assisted opening is a plus.

Has anyone had any problems with carrying it without locking it ?

I like it so much I may get the Scallion.

It's a great little knife but I don't carry mine too much 'cos I'm paranoid that the blade is going to open on me. That's just me though...the fact is that it's never actually done that to me and everyone I know that has one carry them daily and have never had that problem.

I know one guy who carries his all the time without locking it and he has never had it open on him. It can happen though, so I would suggest to ALWAYS use the lock.

Nope, I've been carrying SpeedSafes steadily for 2-3 years now (Ricochet, Boa, & Chive) and I have never worried about it opening inadvertently--I'd never carry a knife that I couldn't trust. That's not to say that it won't open on me, but I'd rather not spend time worrying about it. It could happen with a lot of folders out there, not just the SpeedSafes.

I don't tend to carry my Chive, as it is a bit too small for what I need a second knife for. If I do carry it it is locked since the pinky can unlock it very easily.

Of the several knives I own, I find my Kershaw Vapor being my most carried primary knife.
