Kershaw's ET..good as a fixed blade?

I know many people have knocked the ET design, not for any reason other than the valid criticism that it seems like a lot of parts that could go wrong. I definitely wouldn't take one camping. Lots of pivots to get dirt in.

But otherwise, the system seems like its basically a fixed blade while you're holding it. I mean, based on the design, it literally cannot fold as long as you're gripping it. Now obviously one could let go of it by accident, but it also has small backup lock to keep it open. And there is the unlikely event that some part of the knife would actually snap, but that could happen on any knife....

I was wondering if you guys that use your folders pretty hard think a similar system could be used on other knives to basically increase the safety of folder designs.

Balisongs and the Jani-song are like that, but I prefer the ET more. The Hawks and Kershaw knocked one out of the park with that design.

Yeah, I guess I sort of forgot about Balisongs. Good point. Its just that there is so much talk about lock safety, and it seems like designs like the ET may be the solution.

The ET is an excellent folder with as secure a lock up once opened as anything you'll ever use. Its no slouch for a user either with that great great blade shape. I have the camo and my wife has a rainbow, my son has a black one and we all like em a lot. You just have to keep some bandaids in your wallet to use one since you can't own one without playing with it and eventually it bites you. :D I don't care though. I still love the thing! Besides its a great novelty knife and folks are more facinated by it than intimidated so I've found its also rather sheeple friendly.

i agree with STR the E.T. is a great knife! i also have a camo that i carry all the time because of it's light weight. you hardly know you're carring it. :)
