Kershaw's M390 folder for $80. How is that possible.

Anyone else think it's insane that there is a Kershaw Dividend with M390 steel for such a low price? I also noticed that there are a bunch of Cold steel folders with S35VN for well under $100. Makes it harder to justify buying some premium brands.

First word of your title is how lol. From what I've seen, it is real, or at least better than their 420HC

I haven’t seen the M390 Dividend in my neck of the woods yet, but I am a big fan of Cold Steel’s S35VN, XPS and even BD1 knives. I have paid over $100US only once for a Cold Steel and it was one of the limited edition S35VN Recon 1’s (about $115US). Fantastic knives for the $$$ IMO regardless of what you think of their marketing. I own 4 of them and will likely own more in the future.

You don’t need to spend $300 for a knife with a good steel...

Isn’t the normal Dividend ~$40? At almost double the price, M390 seems pretty doable. Not saying that it’s not a good value or anything like that.

If you're purely looking for performance, premium brands just aren't the way to go, or at least their high end offerings aren't. Don't get me wrong, there are touches that many premium knives offer that, as an enthusiast and collector, I absolutely love (Viper melts, rounds and crowns every edge except the cutting edge and I love the aesthetic and in-hand feel that gives, just as an example), but if you're looking for a simple cutting tool, even if you want a premium super steel to go with it, you don't have to spend a ton of dosh to get it these days. My Spyderco Urban sprint in K390 cost right around $70 and that steel just cuts and cuts and cuts.

You can find the M390 Steel Wills for just over $100 and some M390 Vipers for a few dollars more. Still quite a bargain if you ask me.

I wish it had G10 handles. I've been debating the M390 Dividend for awhile now. I just don't like metal handles. I really don't need another knife but I don't own any knives with M390 steel.

This is why I don't understand why the Kershaws (except for some exceptions) and CRKT don't up the steel game a tad. If Ontario (Rat 1/2) and Steel Will (Modus) can do D2 steel for $40ish, why don't they do it?Kershaw and CRKT have some great designs, the steel choices are blah. I'll take a CRKT M21 or M16 with G10 and a PE spear point in D2.

Kershaw m390 is a good value. I am not a huge fan on their colored aluminum scales but overall a good value.

I pulled the trigger on an M390 Link black scales. I EDC this knife more than my others. Had a microbevel polished edge put on it.

I just got my Kershaw Link with M390 in the mail. I am also very surprised that this knife is so inexpensive. I understand other knives in higher-end steals being under a hundred bucks but M390 is supposed to be particularly expensive. It's a USA Kershaw so I'm assuming it is what they say it is I just don't know how they can do it.

Also, I agree with the previous post. I don't like the metal handles either. I much prefer G10.

I posted a YouTube video of it if anyone wants to check it out. Same name.
