Today I get to play "duty agent" for my office which means I field all inquiries of a criminal investigative nature which aren't directed to specific agents within the office. Essentially a thankless 24 hour period.

Luckily, by missing the mail yesterday the good news was that I'd have a box to open this evening containing a pair of Nepal's finest. A breath of fresh air in an otherwise hectic (but fruitful) day.

Couldn't get a better picture in the lighting available so I apologize in advance for the less than admirable photo:

The top khukuri is an 18" WWII by Kesar. A very nice blade and beautiful wood handle. Nice handles on karda and chakma as well.

The lower khukuri is a 17" quasi chainpuri handled sirupati by Sanu. Yes, Fausto, you were right in referring to it as a sirupati. Uncle was just testing us that day when he described the blade as BAS style.

Both khukuris came with lovely tooled scabbards by the infamous sarki with no name, one even had small pads to prevent the nails from scratching the karda and chakma.

Not sure if both khukuri handles feature the same wood as the grain and tone seem somewhat different to my eye, but one (or both) feature the Nepali Hill Walnut.

The edge of the Kesar piece was left short of sharp while the Sanu is sharper.

Overall both feature excellent workmanship in terms of fit and finish with only the usual minor issues to be found.

Khukuris well worth the price of admission and made stout enough for the next few generations.

Nah, I can take better pictures, just not with the light available in the bedroom.

Unfortunately, it was already dark outside by the time I opened the box.
