I think these things are getting better and better. Every one that comes up seems a little nicer. And I thought they were nice as they could get. Keshar has these things figured out.

Here's hoping for ya RockFarm. Great gift. Beautiful and extremely useful.

Thanks folks, he is about to turn nine. I understand that sounds very young but since I forge blades he has been brought up using them. For the last year I have let him take care of a 15" ang kola by Bura that I bought a few years ago and it had no handle. I made one from micarta and wrapped it in ray skin with a kydex sheath and the boy has done great with it. It makes me very proud to watch him chop, always with his off hand back and forward leg off to the side and letting the weight do the work taking his time. My plan with this is to fancy up the handle a bit then seal it, next will be making a nice leather sheath with copper rivets and maybe having his name etched across the leather.

Oh I get it. No worries.

My father was a sculptor. He was working with wood, steel, fiberglass, concrete, etc... His shop could have been a very dangerous place for an uneducated kid but I grew up in there. As soon as I was strong enough to lift it, he showed me how to use it safely.

That Kuk is going to be quite heavy in a small hand. I'm sure you will teach him well.

Excellent. I firmly believe it's all about maturity and only a parent can know when they are ready.

I don't advocate blades for kids under 4 and I draw the line at firearms for children at 7. Life is short, poor kid shouldn't have to waste any of it waiting to play safely with fun toys, with appropriate adult supervision. Usually my wife since I don't seem to have every grown above 7 myself.

Does she complain about being embarrassed for you all the time like when you just speak the truth or carry on a conversation with mannequins in the department store. Or try to buy other peoples children and such.

Seems like whenever you just call em the way you see em, everybody considers ya childish.?????

LOL bawanna, Basically nothing there until you mentioned trying to buy other people's children sounded strange. Now why anyone would want MORE kids just never ceases to amaze me.

I am firmly in favor of starting kids slowly and basing the speed they progress on the particular kid. Some do great with firearms much earlier than others. It is a matter of making sure they keep safety at the forefront of their mind every time the blade/gun is removed from storage. I also advocate leading by example and not having <hands beer to buddy>"Hey Watch THIS" moments around guns so that kids see it and think, "ah stupidity around knives and firearms is fine."

Other than those particular parameters I say stupidity is usually just fun that went a bit wrong.

one reason i like dogs more than children is that if nthey get pregnant you can sell the offspring. and they're easier to get neutered when they are young. for some reason it's illegal to neuter your pre-teen human kids. i did find it's not illegal to neuter your wife tho. :) you do need them to cooperate.

LOL Kron, I will have to keep that in mind, though from the female perspective, I will point out that it is easier to neuter the male of either species.

Not that I enjoy going to the airport but on my wifes 3rd C section, (had to go in after all 3 but didn't use the pry bar AK on none of em) I asked the doc since he was in there already could he tie, knot or remove whatever causes the little tax write offs and he did.

In hind sight I'd rather have kids than go to the airport but since you can't have one without the other I guess it don't matter much. Just have to use caution.
