I got this baby by mail this morning at 8.30 a.m. and it did not leave me until then (it´s 8.30 p.m. here now, BTW). Its quality, fit and finish are perfect. I can´t think of a better small edc at the moment. If You visit www.wilkins-knives.com, You´ll see much more (and better) pics of this and other beautiful knives.
Overall length 90mm, blade BG-42, handle 2mm thick heat anodized 6Al4V-titanium
Hope You like it.

That is a great little knife, looks strong and won't scare the Sheeple :) I'm off to check out the supplied link.

Thx for sharing

P.S. Just checked out the link, Damn that's a pricey little guy. Time to start saving up.

I'd have to agree with you...that knife really appeals to me.
This guy makes some amazing stuff!

edit..... hot damn..460 euros..... i can't afford that :footinmou

I´m glad You like it.
Its a bit pricey, thats right. But Europe isn´t a cheap part of this world, and if someone wants to make a living by building knives, he´s got to charge You some $$ (or better €€).
And regarding the quality and craftmanship of this knife, the price is ok. It isn´t that much cheaper to build a small folder than a big one, the mechanics and the steps to do are the same.

Given the current exchange rate, I suspect you can get much better deals in the US. His knives sure look nice but they're horrendously expensive.

Ausgezeichnet!
Sal? Are you paying attention to this one?
Wonderful design. Well done Kevin.
BTW Kevin, I just went to your site. Did you ever spend any time around Kantstrasse/Savignyplatz circa 1995? You look familiar.

That is one nice little knife! Don't know how huch longer I can resist ordering one of his Wharncliffs. Wholeheartedly agree that Sal NEEDS to get a collaboration going with Kevin. IMHO, his Mini, Wharncliff and Ryback Folding Chef's Knife would all be excellent candidates for such an effort, even though, being left handed, I'd probably still need to spring for one of the customs.

Joss, granted, they're not cheap but... I just figured out, with the 16% German sales tax deducted and assuming he does not charge extra for a LH version, the "base model" of the Wharncliff would cost about the same as the custom LH large Chinese Folder I ordered from Bob Lum last weekend at the NYCKS.

I deal with a well known German maker who actually has American pricing and European pricing because his popularity is such that he can get more for his in his home country than here. I'd love to have one of Kevins folders and his work looks great but his popularity here doesen't justify the price conversion.

Kevin Wilkins is my favorite custom folder maker right now. His work is astonishing. I guess it's really a toss-up between Jens Ansø and Kevin. You can't top these guys! Great little knife and totally awesome, precision work without being soulless.

his website says that he can now offer a 16% discount to non-european buyers - that saves $70, which helps, but still . . . .

that is really wonderful news! but he requires a 30% deposit....

Just stumbled across this post... thanks to Crashlander! Also thanks to everyone for their encouraging posts. Here is another small folder which I have developed. I call this one Leaf Storm (with apolgies to G.G. Marquez :-)):

Regarding pricing: I can't take responsibility for international monetary policy. The high Euro or low US Dollar - whatever - is beyond my control. I have worked with my accountant to be able to offer all non-EU customers a price reduction of 16% which is the German sales tax (or VAT as it's called in Britian.) I had to make sure that was legal to NOT charge non-EU residents this sales tax or else I would have to pay it later myself!

I try to make the best knife I can make both technically and physically. I could make a cheaper knife but it would be less than the best quality I can produce, so I won't do that. A lot of time goes into design and a lot of money go into he finest materials and the professional machines needed to work these materials effectively.

I am always looking for ways to be more cost effective but I will not compromise quality. I feel this practise is the right one too, because I see many customers coming back to purchase more than one knife.

As regards a cooperation with Spyderco: I'd love to! I think my monster Ryback Folding Chef's Knife would also be a natural for Spyderco. Sal's reputation for honesty and innovation in the induistry makes him the kind of guy I'd love to work for.

Again, thanks to all for your support and comments!!

Oh, here's a pic of the Ryback Folder with the Leaf Storm folder...

Awesome stuff! I like all those. That little one looks small, but tough as hell. Very nice work.
