That is an incredible knife!! Congrats!! That IS beautiful!! What a great score!!

...of super hi-tech CNC machinings and old, warm, natural ivory.

My personal preferences are disappointed with overlays. In THIS case I am persuaded otherwise. :D

VERY cool!

Yup Coop, usually I do not like overlays but this one is exception :) hehehe

Anton,

Give us a little history on this:

Where did you get it, how long did you wait, whose idea were the materials chosen, and how was the experience?

This completes the 'package' of good information. :D

Thanks.

Coop (BTW, that's a handsome little boy in your avatar! )

Sure Coop, I got it directly from Kevin himself. As Kevin does not take any new orders, I sent him an email with knife specifications (per Kevin's instruction in his site) several months ago. Lucky me, he contacted me last week and offered me this knife :) :). According to Kevin, this is the only in the US with a Balbach Damascus blade :) so far.

From the site: Open: 152mm Blade: 60mm Closed: 91mm. The blade material is carbon damascus balbach and the handle is flamed ti. Actually, this model but the light version that spyderco will do the production ones .. maybe next year (http://www.wilkins-knives.com/folderpages_all/leafstorm/leafstorm_e.html).

It seems like a small knife but it's not really (it's a tank). It has a wide body, so my hand can grip it firmly and comfortably although I have a big hand. Also the spidy hole is very cool and very helpful in opening! I cut some papers to test the sharpness ... it's very very sharp! I am a picky person, this knife is "clean" and well built :) Also the overlays is very nice touch and gives the knife a character :)

Well, I did not do EDC this one :) as my other custom knives .. just for drooling only.

my2cent :)

Balbach makes great damascus. I have a couple of boker knives with Balbach "Leo-damast" made from the barrel of a Leopard main battle tank.

Kevin Wilkins knives are very nice indeed. I had the chance to see some "for real" last year. At that occasion I also met Kevin. Unfortunately I already spent my money before I reached his table:(.

Nice knife, nice pics.

How cool is THAT?!
