Kevlar Micarta

Andrew, where's the link....?
The link, man....you know the routine....Links or pictures when you yell "Fire":D

Actually, as far as I'm aware, the kevlar laminate that we have used in the past was an epoxy base, like G-10, and not a phenolic like micarta. Tough? Yes. Good handle material? The jury is still out on that one. It is very sharp and hard. I wasn't freaked out about it. I think canvas micarta is MUCH better. That's why we never switched over to anything else. . . yet.

I think what Jerry is trying to say is.....you know too much...:D

You taken that pill yet you little porker? ;) :p

Jerry, did you find that the Kevlar was heavier than the micarta? What did it do to the balance?

Cool factor aside, how tough to scales really need to be?

Having worked with phenolics, epoxies and laminates on a regular basis, I can't imagine that a kevlar laminate will do anything good for tooling.

Besides, Jerry already has the ballistic end of things well in hand.

Bulletproof knives should be garnished with bullerproof handles.

I tell ya what I'd like to see... a SJ with a bone or stag scale handle.S-W-E-E-t! OH and a wrap around dark leather sheath, what a very pretty and sheeple(non military lookin)friendly rig.I would call it the great northwest Jackyl series.

I'd really like to see a Satin Jack with thick carbon fiber handles. Flat ground nice and thin, with the zero edge like on the Active Duty.

Brian, I agree, canvas micarta is far stronger than is needed already....but come on....kevlar micarta just has a Busse ring to it :D

And Danbo, I agree :D

Thanks Andrew,

Validation is a good thing! BTW, I did acknowledge the "CDI factor".

Speaking of validation, that's a cool garnish you've come up with!
