i just remembered that i used to do this when carrying my KISS and though you guys might enjoy it. If you have a smallish knife with a lanyard hole, attach it to your keys, clip it to your pocket, and then you can get to your keys without reaching around in your pocket for them. plus, when you are wearing clothes without pockets, you can clip your keys to your waist band. anybody else have interesting ways of carrying things involving knives?

Would you believe, that's EXACTLY how I used to carry my key (only needed to carry one key for a long time), and to avoid noise I used a piece of (pink) climbing cord to attach the key to the kiss. I adjusted the lenght of the cord by tying several double figure eight knots in it. By untying some of the knots I could wear the key around my wrist or neck.

yeah, i did the exact same thing when I carried a KISS...except I connected the keys directly to the knife with a split ring.

I carry a Hartsfield double edged kozuka. It's only 1/16" thick and very light. It has a little key ring at the end of the sheath and that's where I keep all my keys. The handle sticks out of my pocket a little bit, so I don't have to fish around, making it really convenient to take out my keys. It also has a cord that attaches to my belt loop so I can draw quickly with one hand. Also, it protects it from dropping out and getting lost.

I used to attach a SAK Classic to my keychain and let the SAK dangle out of my pocket with the keys in the pocket. Then I didn't have to grope around amidst change, nuts & bolts, etc. looking for my keys -- I just grabbed the SAK and pulled them out. When I got my Spyderco Delica I retired the SAK and replaced it with a little Mini-Mag flashlight that runs on a AAA battery.

BTW -- I believe that I once read an article about the origins of Spyderco and Sal Glesser said that the idea of designing a knife with a integral clip came to him after he bought a keychain attachment that resempled a frog with a clip on it. It clipped onto the pocket with the frog on the outside and the keychain on the inside for easy access to keys. He just applied the concept to knives.

I'm experimenting with putting my chive on my keychain. i use one of the little cords that come with the maglite solitaires and it's working out well. now i just have to figure out how to fit my tracer glowring on
