Key chain knife

Okay this might have been asked before but I'll bet there's some new solutions since last time. Here's the deal. For years I've carried one of cold steel's mini-pals on my key chain. It was a handy little thing to have around every now and again for light cutting etc. The problem is that the crappy kraton handles invariably disentegrate over time and eventually the sheaths wear out and you lose the knife. Well this happened with my current one. The handle came apart about a year ago and the knife finally disappeared this week. So I'm looking for a new key chain knife and thought this time it might be a good time to find a new solution. So what have you all got? I'd prefer a small fixed blade of some sort and not crazy expensive say something less then 30 dollars. It has to be able to fit into my pocket so no super de duper tactical 10 inch telescopting wonder either...

Thanks!

what about that tiny buck neck knife?.......i have heard that it is decent, i have looked at it and it is quite small, as you would want.

i have heard that the sheath is a little bit lacking, but that it can be fixed with a bit of duct tape in some way...

someone that knows will likely chime in soon enough

edit to add this picture that i found:

they sell them at this website i found; http://www.dantesknife.com/combat.htm ......about 1/3 of the way down the page

I carry a Victorinox Signature lite as a fob on my keychain. It does everything I ever ask of it, and the little pen comes in handy more often than I would've thought possible.

A mini pal is the only fixed blade I've had on my keys. I liked it but didn't have it long enough to see it start falling apart. Right now I have a leatherman squirt on my keys and though a bit on the heavy side, I like it alot. The spyderco ladybugs are nice if you just need a single locking blade. I think they recently came out with the ladybug3 and it looks to have a slightly larger hole and more secure handle.

I know you prefer a fixed-blade but I think a folder is more suitable for the punishment a key-chain life hands out. Why not a small Spyderco?

I vote for the spyderco ladybug or jester. Both great knives. I have a jester on my keychain=)

The smallest Spyderco Byrd (The Finch) is all metal (sturdy) and comes with a bead chain for your keychain. Common price is $16.95.

I have a red-handled Spyderco Ladybug that's been on my keychain for probably 8 years or so. They don't make 'em with red handles anymore, to my knowledge, but the Ladybug (or Jester) is a great knife, though not a fixed blade.

That Buck Hartsook is neat but it is VERY small, a little scalpel, and the sheath is practically fragile. You would need to wrap it in duck tape or with a rubber band to keep the knife in.

A little over your budget but way stronger overall is the Boker Subcom Fixed Blade.

I carry the wenger nail clipper knife, but I have carried a spydie jester, leatherman squirt and a vic mini champ and classic. All were great, but I like having the clippers, it's got scissors and a good blade as well.

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far gentlemen. I am now going to look at the items you have identified so far and see what grabs me. :)
