Key Chain Knife

Although I have many other knives my most carried and used one is my Spyderco FRN Dragonfly PS. I carry it every single day. Granted the AUS8 steel is not as great as the VG-10 blades but it has served me well. I know it is not marketed as a key chain knife like the Ladybugs but it works well as one and the weight of my keys allows me to do a good Spyder drop opening. Are there any other key chain knives or one that could function well as one?

I'm not brand conscious but I'd like to keep it below $50 if possible and definitely no assisted opening. AUS8, 440C, VG10 or S30V would be nice. Stud or Spyder hole opening is ok by me. I prefer a PE. Only reason I EDC a PS is because I got a really great deal on it NIB but I don't mind it that much. One last thing... it must be a locking knife.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend...

I have both, and both are excellent little knives.

Edit: OOPS! No lock on either of these, but AGR also makes a Lockback version:

Very nice but there don't seem to be any lanyard hole for me to use it as a key chain knife. That or I'm missing something. That SOG looks a bit puny...

spyderco H1 Ladybug in SE, one awesome keychain blade, also look into a leatherman squirt e4, its not just a knife, and i use the hell out of mine

Ditto! This thing is tough as nails and performs way bigger than its super small size! (I got the P4)

It used to be a Ladybug on my keychain and now it's Boker Keycom. It's AUS8 and it cost under $20

So far the recommendations are pretty good...

Did a tally...
Spyderco Ladybug H1 (not too keen on another PS) and I don't see the purpose of having a rust proof knife in such a small package.

SOG Micron (too small) and no locking mechanism.

Benchmade Benchmite (I like it, very pretty but I'm not sure about the Levitator lock)

Buck Hartsook (light and simple)

A.G. Russel Ti Pen Knife (no lanyard hole)

Boker Keycom (this I actually like)

Leatherman Squirt (like this too, interesting idea having a multi-tool as a keychain) Are they heavy?

Of course I could always get another Dragonfly, maybe in PE, FRN,SS or the etched SS (if that is still available). Also looked at the CRKT Kiss, very unique look and seeems quite pocketable. Great suggestions and discussion so far... Keep em coming

Also check out the Gerber Trendy. Stylish little thing with a handsome wood scale. 2.25" drop point blade and only 3" total length closed. Frame lock with a money clip too.

I have a blue Buck Metro on my keys. Knife + bottle opener and its flat and rugged. I'd definitly recommend it. Plus, it doesn't look like a knife when closed, if that matters to you.

for keychain knives I am of the opinion that one of the small leatherman models (micra is what I would choose if I could) or one of the small swiss army knives are the way fowards.
as you require locking, the leatherman would be my suggestion.

if you look closely at the smaller knife in this pic, you can see a bit sticking out the back of the frame. that looks to be a lanyard loop on a sort of swivel, as used by some maritime knives.
