what do you guys use as key-chain knives?? i like saks but am not really a fan of the classic. i want something a bit more substantial. i've been eyeing the spyderco ladybug. basically a mini of my beloved delica. wish they were something a bit better than aus6 though.

any other ideas??

thanks

I keep a Vic Manager in tranparent onyx on my keychain. Having an ink pen always handy like the Manager does is something I wouldn't be able to go without. I also use the little blade all the time, and it cuts better than most of my pocket knives. I use teh bottle opener on imported beers often, and the scissors, nail file, and toothpick are great for nail care.

I'd recommend the Jester over the Ladybug. The latter might look better, but it's basically a scaled-down version of the Delica/Endura. The Jester was designed with a tiny folder with good ergonomics in mind.

Have to agree with above about the Jester. Great little knife for a keychain. That would be my top choice for a dedicated knife on the keychain.

Perhaps a Leatherman Squirt would work. Decent multitool and very small. Only downside is the colored coating is not too tough and scratches off from the keys. Still, I love mine and it has been working flawlessly for years.

I got my dad a A. G. Russell Ultimate Pen Knife for Christmas. Nice and sharp in VG-10. The only bad thing is how much I would like one myself now.

Hold out a bit and you may be able to pick one up slightly bigger and in lockback IIRC.

Guess I'll be a little different since my keychain knife is a fixed blade.

Nemesis Hellion

I used too have this Gary Bradburn on there but it was just a little too big/heavy.

A fellow forumite sent me a translucent rootbeer colored Victorinox Classic. That's what I roll on my Keychain. My other favorite was a Spyderco Jester I used to carry. 'Twas also given to me by a fellow forumite. ;)

Physics,

I love that current Nemesis you have. Where can one get one of those knives? Also how long is it? Kinda hard to tell from the picture.

Jester is the best keychain knife I've ever had. I had one a while back and traded it off, I missed it dearly. I got a new one from a forumite and I'm in love with it all over again. The steel is not the best, but it is easy to touch up on my 204 and it's economical. I'd like better steel, but it's still very functional the way it is.

hello cosine,
Yup, it's pretty much friction that holds the knife in there. The kydex is molded around the knife and holds it pretty tight. I can't get that little Nemesis to fall out no matter how hard I try. Pulls right out when you want it though.

Here's a link to the TADgear page. That's where I got mine from about a year ago.

It's only 4" over all w/ a 1.63" blade. It's S30V and hollow ground so it's pretty tough and cuts well. Think of it as a tiny scapel. I wrapped the handle and left the ends long for more grip. I also ground down the sheath with a dremel cause it was pretty wide, about 1.75"

If you are into lightweight ... these are great!
