What are your thoughts on this common practice and the objects designed to be carried in this manor ?

Generally most keychain gadgets or tools out there these days are not my style, and the keychain intended tools I do like I find more useful carried on their own. When I want to see something cut something ,or turn a screw my keys are the last thing on my mind.
And really I just don't want my keys to be bulky, nor do I need and additional nonsense on my keys when all I want to do is use the key I need and be done.

I love all these " keychain " tools and find them too useful to be hindered by the attachment of a set of keys.

This freebie from BladeHQ is the only "extra" I need on my keys.

I try not to have too much stuff on my keychain. I go to court a lot so no knives or leatherman minis. They sometimes give me a hard time over my Atwood PryBaby. I just tell them its a bottle opener (which is true, that is what I use it for 99% of the time). I also have an old Photon light which I think probably should be replaced\upgraded.

The keys do get in the way to make a lot of the things useful. I always have a leatherman and multi-bit screwdriver in the truck, along with a much better flashlight.

I use Bison Designs Key Caddies to manage my pocket stuff. The gated Aluminum centers weigh little and allow the quick addition or removal of tools. When using a car key, I slide it off the holder. I don't want weight on the key when in use. A caddy can be quickly loaded with the stuff needed for today's anticipated activities.
The split rings that come with a caddy are a little large for most things. I go to the tackle shop and get an assortment of split rings and use the smallest that the tool will allow.View attachment 1323742

I used to keep keychain tools attached to a Vic belt clip and chain to pull out them in one big chunk. They were on a caribiner with easy on and off ability. However, a year or two ago I switched to carrying them in a belt pouch (Maxpedition AA pouch), which allowed me to carry slightly bigger options and reduce my pocket clutter. I might switch back when on the motorcycle though... also because I have a tool kit on the bike.

The only accessory I have on my keyring is a Photon. If it fell off tomorrow I'd replace with one of two spares I have. But honestly, I've been carrying it for 10 years. Gone thru some batts but not the light itself.
Too much weight on your actual keyring can waller out your ignition switch, unless you have one of those newfangled ones...I do not.

A number of these things interest me, and I even think those key caddys are kind of cool but they would not change mt thouts on keych carry
Honestly my favorite method befor getting the Case knives tag I wanted to use was an old leather keyfold.
Kept everything nice and compact with no jingle.

What's the black thing on the dark green caddy, the triangular thing on the orange caddy, and the sliver and black thing on the blue caddy?

1) Set of TORX bits, 2) 2 Bladed pocket knife, & 3) A magnet with a black screw protector cap. I have no problem with rattling when the caddy is in my pocket.
