The ferro rod that my son carries on his key chain fell apart and he needs a new one.
What ferro rod do you like for going on a keychain?
(extra bonus if you can tell me where to buy one like it.:D:D)

As always thanks for sharing your experience with me,

I like the Boy Scouts of America Hot Spark. They're like $4.00 and work really well, plus they're very small while still being usable (including a decent handle).

I like the nanostriker

+1 on the BSA HotSpark. It sells for $3.00 and has lasted for years on my keychain, starting numerous fires.

I really like my NanoStriker, and it is currently on my keychain, but it is heavier, more complicated, and much more expensive. (What's not to love!) :D I always tell people to go ahead and order several of the HotSparks, as they will be giving them away to everyone who sees them light a fire with it.

I went through this same thought process a while back, and decided a mini peanut lighter was more appropriate for an EDC. A firesteel will last longer in a survival situation, and is a great choice to keep in glove boxes, backpacks, and the like, but for something on the keychain, the convenience of a lighter for non-survival uses is much better, in my opinion. The peanut lighters are small, light, and work great. I got mine from countycomm.
