Ok so I've had a Vic classic on my keys for around ten years and its gotten pretty beat up and now I'm looking to replace it. Any one out there have opinions on it versus the leatheman micra? I mainly carry for the scissors and tweezers not as worried about knife blade itself.

I carried a Vic Classic for years until I traded it in for a Vic Rambler. Never had a Micra. I did buy a Leatherman Squirt PS4 to try out but, when all was said and done, I kept the Rambler on my keychain.

Carried a Vic Midnite Minichamp for about 10 years now. I Love the LED and built in pen. The pen comes in handy when a cashier has lost their pen when I pay with a cc. and the light really came in handy when my buddy's car broke down late one night and he didn't have a flashlight.

Have a Rambler now, only rarely use the blade since I have another knife, but I do use it from time to time. I mainly use the scissors, toothpick and tweezers, and sometimes the small phillips with electronics. Hard to beat for those functions because it's magnetized. With an Alox Soldier/Pioneer/Farmer, it's a tough EDC combo to beat. The Micra may give you better scissors, but it's bigger and heavier, and no toothpick, not sure how good the tweezers are on a Micra, the small vic tweezers are so-so (kinda weak for pulling stray whiskers). Vic scissors are really good. I must have cut a million zip-ties with the Rambler scissors. Still surgical sharp.

I'd stick with an SAK. My personal choice is the Midnight Manager, but either way, I'd go with Vic.

I have been back and forth on this very thing for years. I started out with a vic classic when I was 16 and I carried it for years. In my late 20's I switched to the micra and I was very happy with it until leatherman released the the Style CS. It wasn't as compact as the micra but I loved that I could easily disconnect it from my keys which made using it much easier. I have recently switched back to carrying a Vic classic on both my rings. Much lighter, and I like having the glow in the dark one because it helps me find my keys when my house is dark.

I've tried several keychain knives, but I keep coming back to the Vic SAKs. Rambler, Manager, and Alox Classic are some of my favorites. If you use the tweezers frequently though, the Alox ones might not be ideal. If you don't use the blade, the Jetsetter might also be worth a look (supposedly airline-approved too).

Classic in ALOX!
Very sleek and the scissors come in handy more often than the blade.

I like the classic better; for the past few years I have carried the one with a ballpoint pen replacing the toothpick. Much more useful (it's never leaked, and they are replaceable). Also have a dragonfly and a small flashlight, but if the classic has done well, I'd get that again, maybe a different configuration or color.. Keeping your keys light, just a classic is hard to beat imo.

The micra is more like a small pocket tool than a keychain tool, in my opinion.
Anyway, the micra has bigger scissors, not as precise as the the classic, but tougher.
The classic has easier access to the blade, while the micra offers a bit more tools.
The rambler screwdriver/bottle opener is superior to many small Philips screwdrivers, and it works on a variety of screw sizes.

The tweezers on the micra are narrower, and a bit more awkward to use, mostly because of the way they are attached. They work though, no problem there.
The scissors will even cut zip ties, but they won't be as precise in detailed work as the classic's.

I carry the Rally and Micra on my keychain. The tweezers are better on the SAK, the scissors are better on the Micra (I own a Classic as well). I never bothered using the tweezers on the Micra as the moment I touched them I didn't think they were anywhere as good as the SAK. Pick which you want better product in scissors or tweezers and make your decision based on that, that's how I would decide.
