today i just recieved my leatherman style cs to replace my lost classic and i have found it to be quite useful already (in particular the scissors and the nail cleaner) however i have not used the knife at all as i plan on only using it as a sheeple friendly knife when i feel that some poor sensitive soul might take offence at my spyderco, but i wanted to know do you find these small multitools useful or not if so what tool do you carry?

just wanted to know what you guys think so please do share with us all.

Absolutely useful. I carry and use one every day, either a Leatherman Micra or a Vic Rambler, depending on what else I'm carrying. Seldom, but sometimes, that's the only one with me. When pressed, it can do much a larger m-t can, although as in many things, bigger is better. I have a CS and like it, but I find the Micra more versatile, so practicality trumps elegance. Besides, I have a minor mad on Leatherman for where they position the nail nick on the CS knife. There is no reason for it to have been cut in the poor leverage location it is in, except either someone who knew nothing about knives liked its looks or a designer's carelessness in not following up on a design change (I suspect the latter.) I must admit, though, it hangs great on a keyring.

it certainly does hang well on a keychain however while i do not find the positioning of the nail nick to be inhibiting in opening the knife it certainly could be placed better, but i think they use this blade on other tools and as a result it would be too costly to produce a new blade specifically for this tool.

I rotate through them, but always have a Victorinox Classic SD, Manager and/or Leatherman PS4 in my pocket. I do not tolerate large, jingly key rings, so I keep my toys on a separate ring or loose in the pocket. I carry them primarily for the scissors and mini drivers.

These small SAKs and MTs really fit the bill for someone who wants a ton of utility in a very small package. Pair it with a Fenix E05, and you are ready for action.

If they use it for other keychain tools, the bad nick placement remains and it didn't need to be placed there to begin with. The triple hole decoration proves that. All they had to do was cut the nail nick in that location and done. Instead, they have a useless decoration and an awkward to manipulate nail nick. Nice going, Leatherguys.

Just a heads up I'm doing a GAW for a micra in general. Feel free to get in on it!

I personally like a 58mm SAK on my keyring. I regularly rotate them out between a Rambler w/ pen, alox classic and a minichamp. IMO the Rambler is the best Keychain SAK.

I love Keychain tools. Specifically these.

Leatherman:

Micra
PS4
Style CS
Style PS

Victorinox:

Classic
Minichamp
Alox Minichamp

I always have one paired with a flahslight on my keys. If worst comes to worst and you leave the house without a full size MT or flashlight you have some basic tools like a blade and scissors to work with as well as a small flashlight.

IMO the Rambler is the best Keychain SAK.

 In a keychain multi-tool, the perfect balance of form and function, IMhO. More implements than the Classic with no effective difference in pocket, plus better keyring placement.

I like 'em. Always the Leatherman Ps4 on keychain, and Boker Tucan in pocket. That way I don't have to bung up a $300+ main blade, and it stays sharp for when I really need sharp.

Not a fan of keychain tools or knives. The knife/tool gets somewhat in the way of the keys, and the keys definitely get in the way of the knife/tool.

Others love 'em — great — but my knives & keys went separate ways a long time ago.

I have this one because it is cheap, light and handy : http://www.mokkimies.com/true_utility_beerhunter_taskuveitsi
This is my second one, police confiscate the first one and I´m going to get panalty about that case.
In good old times you were allowed to carry knife in public places if the blade was under 8cm. Now they can get from you anyting if their want here in Finland, that sucks big time:grumpy:

Totally agree. That's why I never carry keychain tools on my keychain ;) . I carry them in my 5th pocket, which is what it is for. :)

I also not a huge fan. I have tried a Victorinox Rally and the Classic SD and just didn't find them useful enough to justify adding bulk to an already big ring of keys.

My wife, however, loves the Leatherman Style CS I bought her last year.

Actually, I carry an Camillust Army engineer's knife in the watch pocket (of jeans), while the little Vic Classic goes in the front right pocket. But back when all I carried was a Classic, it lived in that watch pocket, including trips through the washing machine and dryer when I forgot.

How long did it take before the Camillus ate it's way through the pocket? I have had a Leatherman Juice S2, Micra and Vic Sportsman chew holes in various 5th pockets, but Classics and Rambler (my favorite) don't do that. They are nice that way.

Hasn't yet worn through, but already there's a wear outline-print. This is inevitable, and shows up faster with blue jeans, of course. My jeans are tannish of sorts and so the wear marks aren't as obvious. But it's coming, it's coming. Even the wee Classic eventually prints on the pants. I suppose I could avoid it with a pocketable sheath, but that just seems like too much to bother with. Life's too short.

I downsized and went with a Raven Workshop copper key stay, added the necessary keys, a phillips driver bit off my Leatherman and a titanium Atwood bottle opener/flathead screwdriver/pry.

Got a fixed or folder along with this everyday and I'm all set.

I find keychain tools to be somewhat useful, but too heavy. Even a tiny ps4...

But I'm never too far from my bag, i keep my multitools there.
