Keyless entry danger ?

Got an email telling about a new gadget that can unlock your car
IF you close it & double click the lock. The gadget [at a distance ] is supposed to record the beep signal & it can be played back & unlock your vehicle at another time.

Had no luck in snopes but not all my oars are pulling.....

It's in snopes somewhere; I'll look for it. Quick answer: the signal is encrypted. Although in theory the encryption could be broken it would take a lot of computer power and a lot of time and there are much, much easier ways to steal a car.

All you really need to understand is the system uses a new code each time. Someone could record the code you used once and play it back, but the car wouldn't accept that code again.
