Keys and the Stuff You Carry with them....

Howdy,

I am wondering how you all carry your keys, and what you carry with them...

I have a kubotan on mine, inventive right? And I like having it there, because it sort of anchors my keys, but I feel like I want a change.

So, what all you carry with your keys, and where do you carry them?

I don't know what I am looking for, but maybe I will find it.

Besides, I love these "What's in your pocket." threads.

I have the typical house and car keys on a large split ring as well as a small steel clip. On the clip I have a Leatherman Micra and a Photon Micro Light II. Since both the Micra and Photon have tiny split rings I can take them off the clip if I choose and the keys wont be in the way. I have been using the Micra and a small light combo for 10 years and its great. I would like to add a County Comm Micro Widgy Bar, I bet that would come in pretty handy.

I carry my keys on a Nite-Ize S-Biner clipped to my belt loop. I only have my house key and car key on it, as well as a Benchmade Houdini auto-escape tool and a Victorinox micro-light. All of my other gear is in my pockets or EDC pack.

Good Lord, I look and sound like a janitor with the sheer mass of keys/crap on my belt:o. I'm not a fan of multiple key rings as that just gives me multiple chances to forget/pick up the wrong set of keys.

Key-wise:
My truck key (and remote lock), two locking components of my truck keys, and my house key.
My wife's car key complete with chunky remote lock
My motor cycle key
The gate keys to my main office
The office keys to my other office location
The office keys to my main office (front door key, back door key, office door key, pool cover key, safe key)
An Inova photon light
Vic Classic
Utili-key

I pack all of these on an old carabiner clip that I snagged from the weight room of my old college when they were replacing the worn ones with new ones.

Split ring with my assortment of keys...
*Peanut Lighter
*Grey SO-LED flashlight
*Night-Ize S-Biner which has a Vic Rambler and Micro Widgy Bar (easy to remove from everything else for when I need to use it)
*~5" length of braided (square knot) paracord - helps fish it out of my pocket as well as gives me something to hold on to. Not to mention the 2 pieces of about 8' of paracord :)

I've been thinking about getting a Squirt to replace the Rambler. I like the S4 because I get to keep the tweezers which are a major plus IMO, and the keychain size pliers aren't really that strong of a pliers if I'm not mistaken?

Nothing but keys on my keychain. Used to carry around a Gerber Artifact with it, but the weight bugged me. Now I just keep a Victorinox Tinker around for most tasks and keep the weight down on the keychain.

I have my car and house keys on one small keyring, and my giant keyring, with maybe 15 or more keys on it. On the small keyring, I have a Photon light, Leatherman Squirt and Vic classic :D (used to have a small dreamcatcher keychain, but lost it). On the big keyring, I have another Vic classic with different tools, an Inova light and a spark plug disc.

I have the "mechanics keyring" wire thing from county.com and I like it better than any other keyring I've ever used. I have a lot of junk on my keys right now, it's a bit clunky, but very useful. I have:

car key
office key
house key
car door clicker thingy
Spyderco SS Ladybug on an S-biner so I can detach it quickly
Vic Minichamp
8GB USB flash drive
Photon keylight
Peanut lighter

I have a fairly simple set up that I clip on a belt loop and hang in my pocket.
My house keys, fenix L0D, Ti pry bar, skull with CF spinal cord and have an extra
split ring on the mcgizmo clip for my car/bike key that I keep on a clip so its easy to remove.
(I hate having things jangling about when I drive or ride so I keep the car/bike keys separate.)

Wilson have you had any trouble with the keyring breaking loose at the connection points? I purchased 1 small & 1 large and both seem to break from the connection joints at the threads:(

Not saying that all are like this ( only carry 6 keys and a lanyard fob) from CountyComm, only I will not purchase anymore in the future.:)

p.s.: also I don't think that their fauxton lights were designed to withstand EDC on keychain due to their plastic ring which breaks very easily.

I've been using one of those for over a year and it hasn't broken. I love it.

I have my car key & keyfob, P-38, county comm tweezers, key to my convertible, two house keys, a swiss tech utili-key, a paperclip, two grocery store membership cards, a very small USB drive, and a Photon Freedom Micro on my keychain.

A Fenix LOD ce, an old Gerber LST with a 2" blade and a small pill container from my drug store.

On mechanic key ring from County Comm (no problems with mine yet either, these things are awesome):

Keys
Vic Classic
Fenix E01
Peanut Lighter
Mini Mag-Bar
Pocket Pry bar

I want to replace the E01 with a LD01 soon, and I've been meaning to add a small biner back on, too useful.

I hate having extra crap on my keychain, so I only have a few keys on it along with my car's remote fob. If I could figure out a slick way to make a SAK style folder for all my keys, I would 100% do that.

Of course, I have all kinds of crap in my pockets, it's just not on my keychain. :)

I keep:

Wallet
iTP A3 EOS upgrade
Benchmade Griptillian (orange)
Fisher Bullet Space Pen
Burt's Bees lip balm

And I guess that's about it. I used to carry more, but that is the stuff I use on a daily basis, so I might have other stuff in my pockets if necessary.

Mine is similar to this. Carabiner with about 6+ inches of braided paracord ending in one keyring. Enough length to clip biner to belt loop and have keys sit comfortably in pocket. I just have 5 keys + car remote + photon micro type light (batteryjunction.com freebie item) on mine. No tools other then the flashlight. I don't like too much stuff on my keyring or in my pockets. My keys go in Left front pocket.

Vic Fieldmaster, MT, and cell phone hang off the belt in separate sheaths.

My EDC blade goes in right front pocket.

Bandanna/hankie left back pocket.

Wallet right back pocket.
