Hi Skip, I didn't see this post so I just made another one regarding the show. Weather looks good (no snow), looking forward to being there again. Michael, my name is Gene Powell and I will have two tables of antique fixed blades, folders, and military knives for sale or sometimes trade. I hope to see a bunch of you folks there! I think Kelly Cook, Doug Growitz, and Bob Ingram will also be selling there.

Planning on Saturday myself...

This will be a bittersweet visit this year, as my long time friend Keith Lain had past away back in June, we made this a traditional trip every Feb for I can't recall how many years, always stopping at the Turkey Ranch restaurant on the way down for breakfast, spent the day wandering between the rooms full of knives, usually finding something we each couldn't live without...it will be strange to be there and not have him there too. :(

But, my wife said she would go down, she'll wander the store next door, the Country Cupboard Inn has a very nice shop, but also my grandson will be along too, he told my wife today when he heard about it and can't wait to go...ah the son I always wanted lol...

I'll bring along some toys for show and tell as well showing some how I sharpen my knives.

Hope to see some of you folks there,
G2

Got back tonight, was fortunate to have my wife ride down with me, and she did like the shop near the show as well, so you guys feel free to bring the wife along she may find something there too. Also my grandson texted me, he's 11 and has a keen interest in knives (see what I did there ;) ) and asked to come with us, so we stopped on the way and picked him up. He got to meet one of the judges of Forged in Fire there too, J Neilson usually is at this show, I've known J for several years through there and was hoping he would be there today as my grandson also loves to watch Forged in Fire. At first he did not recognize J and J said 'here let me put my glasses on and give a discouraging look...' paraphrased but yep that did the trick, and he thought it was neat to meet him in person. He also found a nice Hammer brand folder and picked up 3 flint arrow heads too, he was over joyed with the day!

I missed Rolf as he had not shown up yet and we had to take off, but I asked chapmanpreferred to extend my hello when he finally showed up, chapmanpreferred was in the second room and both rooms were packed with both knives and folks coming in for the show, it looked like a great turn out! He also has some excellent Spyderco knives, some that are hard to get and pretty rare so if any of you Spydy fans are looking for that special Spyderco you've always wanted, take a peek at the show tomorrow if you can swing by.

I picked up two old whittler folders, one by Moore Maker and one by Black Forest, and ending up putting the Moore Maker up forsale tonight, at the time I wasn't sure which one I really liked better but sorted that out now and I'm keeping the Black Forest one.

Also picked up an ExCellEnt sharpening stone from chapmanpreferred today too, it is the Spyderco Double stuff 2, with diamond back ceramic, super cool stone and thanks again sir!!! I'll post up some pics in the Spyderco forum and do a small review of it in a few days.

Here's a shot of the knives and stone that I got today, grandson left for home via grandma before I was able to get a shot of his score for the day...

Gary, I'm glad you enjoyed the show.
I was truly saddened to hear of Keiths passing, you guys always stopped to say hi and swap knife stories. I looked forward to it every year.
It was awesome to meet your grandson and to see the sparkle in his eye as he showed me his new knife. Can't wait to do it again next year.
