I almost aquired a Jot Singh Khalsa through a trade the other day. even though the trade fell through it got me interested in the knife. I love the handle shape and Micarta is turning out to be my favorite general purpose handle material. the blade is super cool looking too EXCEPT for that HUGE hump for the hole. Do you know of anyone that has removed the hole (i'm sure it would be difficult on the hardened steel). The spyderhole is the best opening device known to man imho but there is a time and a place for everything. I can see putting a little hump on a blade but putting the whole hole sticking off of the blade is just ugly. um ok now that i'm done ranting has anyone chopped it off.

i have never heard of anyone doing that, i think it would be hard - i had a JSK, and i like the handle design too, unfortunatly i cant reccomend the knife, as it is prone to open up in your pocket, due to the big hump when ya are getting keys out of pocket, etc - it is similar to the gunting in this respect imho, and ya cant get a sheath for it like the gunt, not easily anyway - i guess w/enuff work, ya could even do a wave on it though - so while i think the JSK is a neat looking knife, i didnt find it very practical - for me anyway, i keep my knives sharp, and it is not good when they open up in your pocket - a shame as it is a cool looking knife, love the handle on it.....of all my knives the JSK and gunt are the only ones i have had this prob with

I've been thinking of doing that. Take off that huge hump, drill a new hole where the logo is, and I don't know if the Micarta could handle it, but it would be nice to round off the top end(partially because I don't like that spikey end and to clear the way for the new opening hole). It's not exactly a priority, but I'll get around to it eventually. I'll have to remember to post pics when I do. Probably take a while to grind all that off.

On the odd topic of a knife sheath, does Spyderco make any for any of their knives? Granted, the clip is cool, but for bigger knives like the chinook... there's just not room next to my wallet in my jeans.
