Im sorry, I wanted to come to the khonvention, but I just dont have the money for a plane ticket this year. I was planning on selling my car and using some of the money to come home for the khon, but we ended up deciding to keep it a while longer.
Still, the job situation can change quickly here and I could get some "miracle money" and be able to come. that happened two years ago, so it could happen again. (I got an acting job that paid for a trip home, it was a miracle..)

I've known some of you for more than two years and we've never met. (except for Alfred Tan when he came to Tokyo)

So, you guys set the date for whenever you want it to be, and Ill keep trying to see if I can come on that date.
In the meantime, I will get to work on a new and better khukuri DVD.

I will add that I probably will not be able to make it either. It looks like I have a job lined up and will be hopefully starting next month; money won't be a problem but I don't think that I'll be able to get the time off.

If I manage to get the time off somehow, I'm still game, but at this point in time it doesn't look good.

Reno Konvention.
First one with Yangdu at helm. I'll be there. My first.
I don't even like Casinos....REally, a sandbar on the Brazos...now, that would be location, location, location...

I wish I could go. I want to meet you guys. I would LOVE to see your knives. Oh well, c'est la vie. Wife and daughter come first, and we haven't had a vacation in quite a while.

That plane would carry a little alright, Brent, presuming the Russians had maintained it and it would fly.

okay, so it's in reno... when is it? where do I go to find the details? I checked the HI website, and didn't see anything...

Yangdu and Ginny are hammering out the details this weekend Yangdu told me.

IT'll be posted.

That would be really cool. Since I have never flown, and never intend to out of the question for me, but it would be really cool.

They say that David knew the chord, that he played, and it pleased the Lord, but you don't care for music that much do ya? It goes like this the fourth the fifth the major chord the minor lift, the baffled King composing Hallelujah!...........

There's a blaze of light in every word it doesn't matter which you heard the holy or the Broken Hallelujah!

Love that song!!

I never heard the song until you sent me John Cale doing his version of Cohen, Hollow, and it is my favorite song on that collection. There are a couple Cohen songs done better by others than the Master.

Why don't you fly, Hollow?
An old Dead Head like you would love it- looking down on the Earth. Used to jostle a bunch of self reflection and soul examination in me, because it was rare enough to be special.

HD, thanks for that reference. I hadn't heard it either. When I looked it up, it seems that it had different lyrics every time he performed it. I found a very nice version by Allison Crowe at:

Great site. You can listen to at least 2 whole CDs.

Glad to be able to turn you onto that version Munk! It is a beautiful version. Rufus Wainwright also does a similar version, but I think it/he is overrated.

I'm actually a bit of a Luddite despite my love of the net. I guess that's the main reason. I always said the only time I would fly is if I can arrange a journey that goes from Glastonbury in England, to Holland, to Israel and then ending up at the Kumba Mela in India.;)

I should still be able to make it out there this year whenever the final date is.

The 1600+ miles driving over 3 days to the SWKK last year about wore me out, but I'll be there for this one. I wish we could do it every year! Really looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

There is no way I would trust the knives I want to bring to the airlines, so I'll be making the drive to Reno. Should only take me 3-4 hours, which beats the 12 hours to AZ all hollow, although meeting Gin and her daughter was well worth it.

If they are held in Reno I will always make them, but anywhere else is probably going to be problematic in the future.

Hope you can make it Danny.

Funny, hollowdweller, how few people actually get that reference. It's more than a great one-worder, so, as Eliot advocated, I just stole it. Kudos for recognizing it.

And Munk, I have to agree with you: Cohen's genius isn't execution. That's one of the reasons I love his work, though. Like Dylan, he can easily be improved upon.
