Khuk bayonet.......

John there's some controversey about the khuk bayonets. Some folks say they're not for real.
They would be quite the bayonet if mounted on any rifle IMO.. Just imagine the chopping power behind all that leverage!!!!
Arms, legs, and heads, and assorted pieces of torsos flying about all over the place.:D

Needless to say it would be quite intimidating to the enemy. :D

That's what I thought but, being new to Khuks, I had no idea if it was authentic or not. I wouldn't want to be on the business end, authentic or not!

John, the kukri/blade part of this item is very obviously a post-WWII Indian knife. Dixie Gun Works sells Brown Bess bayonets as part number BE0203. Welding is a skill which many people have mastered. Whether there were really ever a small number of kukri bayonets in the 19th century is a subject of legitimate debate; whether any of them have ever appeared on eBay is not. Caveat emptor

that was the first thing that I saw before I even knew that Berk had written any thing about the so called bayonet. India blades are not hard to spot. I have one on the wall still waiting for my son to come pick up. It just isn't welded to a socket. I would be leary of spending any money on the things. I guess if a guy just wanted one OK but, not the bid they have on that one.

Yes, a closer look reveals that the blade appears to be substantially older than the socket (you never know, with ebay images). Never had any intention of bidding, too many other things on my list (like a giant Kobra. I'm closely watching the one on ebay now). ;-)
