Khuk for sale on VikingSword Forums

Steve,
Do you know anything about the blade: who made it, age, etc? Seems like a very good price.

I only know Lew through the forums, so I haven't handled it. He thinks it's 1950's vintage. I'm far from an expert, but I would agree. That's all I really know. He offered it to me, but my drawers are full! I bought a nice Philippine Bolo from him though.

Never mind your underwear, we're talking knives here! Rats, I've always wanted a bolo. He got any more?

That's really nice. I wish he had of posted the specs on it. Looks like one of the regulars is interested so it's probably gone.:(

But I'll watch it anyway.;)

These drawers dammit. :p

Hehe. I don't think he has any more, but I'll keep my eyes open.

The one next to the bottom is the one I bought from him.

It looks like a Chiruwa tang Yvsa, so you wouldn't have wanted it anyway. :) It is a pretty blade though.

I saw that Steve, but sometimes it is just plain necessary to make a compromise.:p ;) :D

Me likey. the K&C look pretty jank and touristy, but the metal on that blade is aging nicely.

I'm sure it is worth the 85 bux, as the fullers are crisply done, the ones on touristy models (rarely fullered) usually have melted looking fullers from overpolishing. Too bad me khuk budget is blown fer a while.

How do you keep your handles and sheaths so great looking? I'm a newbie and would like to know. Thanks.

The hand-caressed..............er, hand-rubbed finish
comes from the natural oils and grit of human skin
gently rubbed across the natural materials
for many hours.

You're mostly right ddean! ;)

Mark, I use Fiebings Black Leather Balm on the scabbards. It's like liquid shoe polish, but a little more nourishing to the leather. I bought it at a leatherworking supply store. Plain old Kiwi paste shoe polish works pretty well. My wooden handles have been refinished with multiple coats of Tru-Oil gunstock finish.

And we all hate you for it! They're beautiful, Steve.

Thanks Steve, I'll try that.
Mark, if you'll do a search with "Woodchuck, Woodchucking, etc." in the search subject you will find out exactly how to put on the Tru-Oli finish in order to obtain the results Steve has had.:)
Walosi gave us a neat guide to go by from his many years of being a Woodchuck.
That is unless you have previous experience of your own.;)
