Khuk handle construction question...

Had a question regarding the typical stick-tang khuk hand construction.

Does the bolster simply butt-up to the horn/wood handle or is it very thin and cover a portion of the horn/wood, such that it is not "hollow?"

The bolster on mine is wiggling just a micron, and it appears to have a hairline fracture on the bolster where it meets the back of the blade. There is enough space between the bolster and blade (about a mm) that I think I can inject some epoxy to solidify and tighten things up a bit. Just wondering how big a void, if any, exists under the bolster as it widens out from where it meets the blade.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice. Loving this knife.

I've seen some of your posts and haven't welcomed you yet so Welcome to the Forum and glad to have you here.

As for the bolster, I'm not sure but I believe that it does cover some of the handle material. The good news for the slight loosening that you have is that years ago Yvsa discovered that any of the Super glues will initially loosen and then re-harden the laha that the kamis use. There is laha under the bolster to help keep it in place. Putting some cyanoacrylate(sp?) (Super) glue through the gap that you have and letting it sit should take care of your problem.
