Hello all, I'm new to the Forum and was curious about a kukri i bought several years ago. I understand that there are a blue million different styles, but in just rambling around on the internet, i seem to come across a bunch that look like this. I bought it from a man named Dr. Larry Sanders, who in turn got it from a man who was a Gurkha. Had i known more at the time, i would have asked if he was an officer, when he served, and some other stuff too. I am thinking that it is an officers' model, since it seems too flashy for a service knife, and its only about 15 inches long. Its not very sharp either, and looking at the edge, there are definite flat spots that couldnt cut
anything. The karda and chakma are pretty well useless, since the blade cant be burnished to make it sharper, and the karda has no edge at all. The pommel looks like it used to be a lions head, but it got shattered at some point in time and you can see the end of the tang sticking out. There is also a good deal of decoration on the blade, which gets caught on the backside of the regimental badge on the scabbard, i might add. Anyway, now that ive rambled on for quite a while, any help i could get with some sort of identification would be great, even if its just a timeframe of when it might have been made or something. And since pictures are worth a thousand words....

And if anything comes up thats anywhere near a student budget, i might hafta grab it. Assuming of course, that i can get around the 3 in blade limit here at georgia tech
