Mysterious Cities of Asia: Katmandu

#1
Cabinet (in care of chief priest Pandi of the royal palace)
containing about 15 personal effects of King of 18 years
(murdered in June 2001):
"every item important to the king during his life"
shiny black leather scabbard with brass chape & narrow band at center
black horn with brass-plate buttcap
appears a little longer than his shoes, so 12-15"?
displayed backside forward at bad angle to see any more detail
? High probability it's Bura's work ?

#2
highly decorated security man near new king
(he had a radio on his belt)
khuk in front left on belt
black scabbard, dark grip, brass butt cap
probably BAS size

no other of many uniforms observed--police or military
seemed to have a khuk
one cap had a brass kora-containing emblem
& the kings cap has a M.sword emblem

#3
chief priest Pandi uses a khuk during sacred rites
cleaves a melon in half
largish heavy-looking khuk
....think of a -thick-, 22"+/- AK without fullers
....i'll have to look for a comparable pic
length distinctly longer than his forearm
& about 5 times the grip length estimated at 4-5"
double, deep 'feather' ('sword of Shiva')
wood grip with brass buttplate & bolster
"kathunk" sound on cutting board sounds very heavy
guessing -well over- 2#

#4
medal / medallion worn on 'award' ribbon by pandi for ceremonies
six flower petals around a double circle
center background seems to be dark blue enamel
petals dark green enamel
green background between circles contains text inscription
center containing a khuk, grip straight down
gold/brass metal outlines petals & circles
and same metal forms khuk & inscription

I would love to get a look at that medallion as described in #4. Sounds cool.

Trying to search for pic on web.

Finding some info regarding medals:

http://faculty.winthrop.edu/haynese/medals/nepal.html
www.medals.org.uk/nepal/nepal-links.htm
www.medals.org.uk/nepal/nepal-text.htm

This is the one chief priest Pandi wore.
Except Pandi's was 'gold' metal. a higher "class" medal than silver.
