khukri handle

Hello all. I've been reading these forums for a while but this is my first post. I recently acquired a khukri blade which I am hoping to restore. The blade has mild pitting and a fair amount of rust and satinging, but other topics have given me sufficient solutions to that. the real problem is the question of a handle. the tang is of a tapered hidden variety (much like the khukri depicted in this process, http://www.thekhukurihouse.com/Content/Makings/ ). So, I would appreciate any opinions or advice on handles. I was considering a stacked leather washer handle, though I've never seen one on a khukri. Much of what I have seen however seems to attach the blade to the handle using only adhesive, which I feel uncomfortable doing solely, so something which utilizes some sort of mechanical fastener in addition to and adhesive would be ideal. Thanks for the help.

If I'm looking at the right pics, those handles are held on by more than adhesive: The end of the tang goes through a small hole in the brass buttplate and is then peened (it's where they are talking about a brass rivet).
