Hello everyone,

I just had a question pertaining to the edge of your khurki when you first recieved it, essentially, was it sharp? I ordered my first khukri, a 16.5'' Chiruwa Ang Khola aproximately one year ago, and let me state, the knife is fantastic, however the edge was less than ideal. It wouldnt chop fresh or aged logs and couldnt cut through a single 2 liter bottle...granted some quality time with a sharpening stone fixed that :D

I was just wondering if anyone else had shared in the same experience.

(On a random not the sharpened chakra, if i recall the proper terminology" was slightly skewed in its alignment into the bone handle, has anyone else noticed this on their blades)

After some quality time, my khukri is now my pride and joy and the envy of my friends, the thing holds a great edge even at 22 degrees, and will fly through anything given to it. I can whole heartedly support HI and their fine products.:D

I've had a lot of the polished blades come anywhere from "not so sharp" to "butterknife". Villagers usually come sharp, if not bleeding-edge sharp.

The karda is the small knife. IIRC the karda and chakma are made by apprentices, and won't always be all that great. Sometimes they are.

Many thanks for the insight.

The smaller knife still does its job exceedingly well, in fact I used it to shave this morning when I was running low on time and couldnt find my razor, and I can confirm your statement about initial polished blade edge quality.

It didnt come with an edge but it sure as heck took one

Welcome to the Forums 32! :)

I'll echo the Cpl's experiences with sharpness "out-of-the-box". They do touch up very well with a strop or a stone, though. After that -watch out!
(But you already knew that, didn't you?) ;):cool:

Initial edge varies, but that just translates into a little more or a little less work turning it into a convex hell razor.
